Xabi Alonso Dealt Crushing Double Blow as Real Madrid Tenure Begins
Real Madrid’s incoming manager, Xabi Alonso, is set to face a challenging start to his tenure at the club, according to a report from The Real Champs. The Spanish tactician, who has yet to be officially announced by the club, will take charge soon, with Real Madrid’s final match under Carlo Ancelotti scheduled for Saturday against Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu.
The news coming out of the Santiago Bernabeu is not positive, however, as the club’s new manager will be without two key players, Jude Bellingham and Endrick, for a significant period. Bellingham is already missing due to suspension and will undergo shoulder surgery after the inaugural Club World Cup, which will be one of the first major tournaments for Alonso as Real Madrid manager. As The Real Champs reports, the midfielder will miss up to three months of action, which is a significant blow to Alonso’s plans.
Things have gotten even worse for Alonso, as Brazilian youngster Endrick has picked up a hamstring injury in the second half against Sevilla on Sunday. According to journalist Jose Luis Sanchez, the injury will keep Endrick out for two months, ruling him out of the Club World Cup. This is a significant setback for the 17-year-old, who was expected to play a key role under Alonso. As The Real Champs notes, Endrick had been one of the few players who had not been injured all season, but his absence will be deeply felt.
The injuries to Bellingham and Endrick leave Alonso with limited options, particularly in attack. With only Kylian Mbappe and Brahim Diaz available to start the final match of the La Liga season, the new manager will have to find a solution to the problem. As The Real Champs reports, Alonso may opt to start a Castilla player in Endrick’s place or choose a midfield quartet of Dani Ceballos, Fede Valverde, Arda Guler, and Luka Modric.
The double blow of injuries to Bellingham and Endrick is not ideal for Alonso as he begins his tenure at Real Madrid. However, as The Real Champs notes, the manager will have to find a way to work around the problem and get the best out of his remaining players.
In related news, Real Madrid’s managerial change is set to bring about a new era at the club, with Alonso tasked with building on the success of his predecessor, Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian manager has been in charge for two seasons, and his departure will be felt by the players and fans alike.
