Tragedy Strikes at Devil’s Pulpit: Man’s Body Recovered from Water

A man’s body has been recovered from the water at Finnich Glen, also known as the Devil’s Pulpit, near Croftamie, Stirling. The Scottish Sun has learned that emergency crews rushed to the popular countryside beauty spot on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, around 1:30 pm, after a report of a concern for a person.

According to The Scottish Sun, teams from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and mountain rescue responded quickly to the scene. A man’s body was later pulled from the water at the rural attraction. Tragically, he could not be saved and medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Scottish Sun reports that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. The A809 between Croftamie and Finnich Toll and the B834 at the junction to the A81 were shut for emergency services access. The routes have since reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told The Scottish Sun, "Around 1.30pm on Wednesday, 21 May, 2025 we received a report of a concern for a person at Finnich Glen, Stirlingshire. Emergency services, including Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and a mountain rescue team, attended and the body of a man was recovered from the water at Devil’s Pulpit. He was pronounced dead at the scene."

The spokesperson added, "There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. The A809 from Croftamie to Finnich Toll and the B834 at the junction to the A81 were closed to allow emergency services access. The roads have since reopened."

The incident has raised concerns about safety at the popular tourist spot. The Scottish Sun understands that the area is a well-known beauty spot, attracting many visitors each year.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, the recovery of the man’s body has brought a sense of tragedy to the community. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the Procurator Fiscal to receive a report on the circumstances surrounding the death.
