Barney Walsh Overwhelmed with Wishes After Life-Changing Announcement

Barney Walsh Receives NTA Nomination for Casualty Role

A surge of congratulations has been pouring in for Barney Walsh, son of TV presenter Bradley Walsh, after he was nominated for the Serial Drama Performance category at the National Television Awards for his role in BBC medical drama Casualty. The news was announced via a joint post on the show’s official Instagram account, with Barney sharing the exciting update with fans.

According to Wales Online, Barney’s nomination was met with enthusiasm from fans, who took to social media to offer their congratulations. One fan wrote: "Congratulations. Had my vote already!" Another added: "@barneywalsh congratulations well deserved." A third fan also penned: "Well deserved. Go, Barney." As reported by Wales Online, the post included a snap of Barney in character alongside a caption which read: "Barney Walsh is longlisted for Serial Drama Performance at the #NTAs. Vote all things #Casualty.."

Barney plays the character Cameron Mickelthwaite, known for his frequent mishaps, and first appeared in the series during its 37th season, which aired in 2023. In a statement after joining the show, he said: "It’s been an incredible experience to join the cast of Casualty alongside Anna, Sarah, JJ and Eddie. It’s a real joy to come to work every day and play Cam. I’m excited for the viewers to meet nurse Cam as he arrives at Holby and very quickly realises he might have bitten off more than he can chew!" as quoted by Wales Online.

As noted by Wales Online, acting is not new to Barney, who began his television career in 2013 with a role in Law & Order: UK. Since then, he has had roles in Doctors, Death in Paradise, and played PC Harness in ITV’s The Larkins, a reboot of The Darling Buds of May, where his father, Bradley Walsh, starred as Pop Larkin. In addition to acting, Barney is also a television presenter, co-hosting the BBC’s reboot of Gladiators with his father and starring alongside him in the popular ITV travel series Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, which recently wrapped its sixth season.

Bradley Walsh has spoken highly of his son’s career, sharing on ITV’s This Morning: "He has always been my son, and you always take care of them. But then all of a sudden he becomes your equal and a work colleague, and a mate, and someone you respect." as reported by Wales Online. The father-son duo has clearly made a name for themselves in the television industry, with Barney’s NTA nomination being a testament to his hard work and dedication.

Casualty airs on Saturdays on BBC One and is also available on BBC iPlayer. With Barney’s nomination, fans of the show will be eager to see if he takes home the award. As Wales Online reported, Barney’s character has quickly become a fan favourite, and his nomination is a well-deserved recognition of his talent.
