McDonald’s Extends Operating Hours at Most US Locations This Summer
In a move to cater to late-night customers, McDonald’s is extending its operating hours at most US locations starting this summer. According to a report from Fox Business, the fast-food chain will keep stores open until midnight or later, although restaurants in airports, shopping malls, or other areas that prohibit extended operating hours are excluded from the change.
The decision to extend hours comes as McDonald’s aims to serve more customers over the summer months. As reported by Fox Business, the company is preparing for an increased demand and is hiring up to 375,000 workers across the country this summer, a move described as “one of its biggest hiring pushes in years.” This hiring surge is part of McDonald’s plan to increase its workforce and expand its operations.
McDonald’s has more than 2 million employees globally working in its franchised restaurants, including more than 150,000 employees working in the company’s corporate offices and company-owned and operated restaurants. As stated in the Fox Business report, most signature menu items will be available during the late-night hours, but individual franchisees will ultimately make those decisions.
To celebrate the extended hours, McDonald’s is offering 1,000 free virtual gift cards for free McCrispy Strips on Saturday. According to Fox Business, anyone who posts
