Murs Cancels UK Gigs After Glasgow Concert Abruptly Ends

Olly Murs Forced to Cancel Upcoming Gigs Due to Illness

Singer Olly Murs has been diagnosed with a respiratory infection and has been told to rest for 48 hours, forcing him to cancel his upcoming gigs in Manchester and Birmingham. The 41-year-old artist was scheduled to perform at Manchester’s AO Arena on Friday and Birmingham’s bp pulse live venue on Saturday, but has now been forced to postpone these shows.

According to reports, Murs was struggling during a performance at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on Wednesday night, and was forced to cut his set short. Fan Chloe Banning, who was in attendance at the Hydro, told BBC Scotland News that the majority of fans were sympathetic when Murs walked off stage, although a minority were angry over the cancellation. "It wasn’t 100% noticeable [he was struggling] as he was still putting on such a good show, but I thought something was a bit off as there were certain lines he wasn’t singing," she said.

Banning also revealed that some fans initially thought Murs was joking or taking a break, but it soon became clear that he was not going to return to the stage. "Some people thought he was joking, I personally thought he was taking 10 minutes and coming back on," she explained. "But then he left the stage and we realised he wasn’t coming back. You could tell he was really upset and kicking himself."

Murs has had a successful music career, topping the UK singles charts four times with hits including "Please Don’t Let Me Go" and "Dance With Me Tonight". However, this is not the first time he has encountered problems while on tour. Last year, he was unable to support Take That at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow after his flight was cancelled.

The news of Murs’ illness and cancelled gigs will come as a disappointment to fans who were looking forward to seeing him perform live. The singer has a dedicated fanbase, and many will be hoping that he recovers quickly and is able to reschedule his shows. In the meantime, fans can take comfort in Murs’ extensive back catalogue of hit songs.

As reported by BBC Scotland News, Murs’ upcoming gigs in Manchester and Birmingham have been cancelled due to his illness. Fans who were planning to attend these shows will be hoping that the singer is able to reschedule them for a later date. For now, Murs’ fans will be wishing him a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing him back on stage soon.

The BBC Scotland News article which broke the news of Murs’ illness and cancelled gigs, provided further details on the singer’s condition and the reaction of fans at the Hydro. The article revealed that Murs had been diagnosed with a respiratory infection and had been told to rest for 48 hours, and that fans at the Hydro had been understanding of the situation.
