The remaining seven places will be decided via knockout qualification rounds which conclude in August. Scottish champions Celtic will have to get through one round of qualifying to seal a league phase spot in the Champions League. Rangers, who finished second in the Scottish Premiership, have three rounds of qualifying to get through. Linfield, The New Saints, and Shelbourne, champions of Northern Ireland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland respectively, can all qualify; however, they have to get through four qualification rounds.
