From Bars to Big Screen: Jelly Roll Takes Leap into Acting with Debut Role and Music Premiere

Jelly Roll Makes Primetime TV Debut with New Song on Fire Country

Singer-rapper Jelly Roll has made his primetime TV debut, premiering a new song in the same episode. The 40-year-old artist appeared on the April 11 episode of the hit CBS drama Fire Country, playing a healthcare worker and former convict named Noah. This marked Jelly Roll’s first scripted TV appearance, following a previous cameo as himself on the Paramount+ series Tulsa King.

According to The Independent, Jelly Roll’s appearance on the show came after he met with the show’s star and executive producer, Max Thieriot, at the CMT Music Awards. Thieriot told US Weekly that Jelly Roll expressed his desire to be on the show, saying "I said, ‘Thank you for letting us have some of your songs on the show,’" Thieriot recently told US Weekly. "And he’s like, ‘Dude, how do I get on the show? I’ve been petitioning online and talking to my people and you got to get me on that show.’"

Thieriot revealed that Jelly Roll called him the next day to follow up on his desire to appear on the show. The two worked together to come up with a character that would be "interesting, unique and special" and tell a story about second chances, which aligns with Jelly Roll’s public image.

Jelly Roll’s new song, "Dreams Don’t Die," premiered later in the episode, resonating with fans of his music and the show. The Independent reported that fans took to social media to express their enthusiasm for Jelly Roll’s appearance and song, with one fan writing on Facebook, "Jelly Roll was great on the show. Wish he was on there for good." Another person wrote, "He hit a homerun again with this song," while someone else shared on X, "Jelly Roll on Fire Country is so clutch!!"

This milestone comes just days after Jelly Roll announced a major weight loss milestone. On the April 9 episode of Pat McAfee’s Big Night Aht show, he revealed that he had lost a significant amount of weight, saying "I started at 540 pounds and I was 357 pounds this morning. I’m gonna lose another 100 pounds and go skydiving with my wife in Sweden, baby!"

Fire Country, now in its third season, follows a young convict named Bode who seeks redemption and a shortened sentence by joining a firefighting program in Northern California. Jelly Roll’s character, Noah, was introduced in the April 11 episode, marking a significant addition to the show.

The appearance and song premiere have generated significant buzz, with fans and critics alike praising Jelly Roll’s performance. As reported by The Independent, Jelly Roll’s TV debut and new song have cemented his status as a multifaceted artist, expanding his reach beyond the music industry.

According to an interview with Max Thieriot, Jelly Roll’s character on Fire Country was carefully crafted to showcase his unique persona. Thieriot noted that Jelly Roll’s appearance on the show "tells some of the story about second chances and what he really represents," adding that it "feels different from who he is and how people see him day to day as a country singer."

The Independent has reached out to Jelly Roll’s representatives for further comment on his TV debut and music.

In related news, Jelly Roll’s weight loss journey has been making headlines. In an interview with Pat McAfee, Jelly Roll discussed his significant weight loss, revealing that he had lost over 180 pounds. He expressed his desire to continue losing weight, with the goal of skydiving with his wife in Sweden.

As Jelly Roll continues to make waves in the entertainment industry, fans and critics alike are eagerly anticipating his next move. With his TV debut and new song, Jelly Roll has proven himself to be a talented and versatile artist, capable of captivating audiences across multiple platforms.
