Straw Hat Insider: ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Cast Hints at Big News

One Piece Season 2: Netflix Teases Upcoming Announcement with Straw Hats Video

The wait is almost over for fans of the live-action One Piece series, as Netflix prepares to unveil a major announcement at its annual fan event, TUDUM. According to a report from Collider, the streaming giant has released a new video featuring the Straw Hats, which sets the stage for a significant reveal on Saturday, May 31.

In the video, the Straw Hats are seen gathered inside the Going Merry, eagerly awaiting a special announcement. As Collider notes, Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) falls asleep while waiting, only to be woken up by Nami (Emily Rudd), who suggests a slumber party to bond. The rest of the crew, including Sanji (Taz Skylar), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Zoro (Mackenyu), soon join in, all preparing for a big reveal. As Collider reports, the video has the same upbeat energy that fans have come to expect from the Straw Hats.

While details about Season 2 of One Piece are scarce, Collider confirms that the cast has expanded, and the story is expected to delve into the Grand Line arc. However, an official trailer has yet to be released, and the release date for the new episodes remains under wraps. According to Collider, it’s possible that Netflix will use the TUDUM event to unveil the first trailer and announce the release date, similar to what happened at the 2023 TUDUM event.

What Do We Know About ‘One Piece’ Season 2?

As Collider notes, the Grand Line arc is expected to be a significant part of Season 2, but it’s unclear how the live-action series will adapt the various arcs from the manga and anime series. In Season 1, several threads from different arcs were woven together earlier than fans anticipated, and it’s likely that Season 2 will follow a similar approach. This strategy has helped keep the live-action show fresh, even for long-time fans of the franchise.

There is also speculation that Netflix may use the TUDUM event to formally announce that Season 3 of One Piece is already in production. Earlier this month, actor Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike’s Last Dance) revealed that filming for Season 3 would begin later this year, but the streamer has yet to confirm this. As Collider reports, Manganiello’s announcement also hinted that his character, Mr. 0, would return for more episodes in Season 2.

The upcoming TUDUM event, scheduled for Saturday, May 31, promises to be an exciting one for One Piece fans. According to Collider, fans can expect a major announcement, which may include the release date, trailer, and more information about the upcoming season. As Collider notes, the event will likely provide a glimpse into the highly anticipated Season 2 of the live-action series.

In related news, it’s worth noting that the series will be continuing without original showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda. As the franchise moves forward, fans will be eagerly awaiting more information about the upcoming season and what it has in store.

The Straw Hats video can be viewed above, and fans can tune in to the TUDUM event on Saturday, May 31, to catch the announcement.
