The popular Prime Video series, The Grand Tour, is set to be rebooted with a new trio of hosts, according to reports. The show, which was previously hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond, has been a hit with audiences since its premiere in 2016. However, with the on-screen relationship between the three presenters coming to an end in September 2024, the show is now being revamped with three new, younger hosts.
The new hosts of The Grand Tour have been reportedly confirmed as Thomas Holland, James Engelsman, and Francis Bourgeois. The trio are all popular in the world of YouTube and social media, and are said to bring a fresh perspective to the show. According to The Sun, Holland and Engelsman, who are the duo behind the popular automotive YouTube channel Throttle House, are “as knowledgeable about motors as Jeremy, Richard and James – the only difference is they’re younger, cooler and a lot more social media savvy.” Francis Bourgeois, a social media star and train enthusiast, will also be joining the show, bringing his humour and passion for trains to the programme.
The Independent has spoken to various sources, who have confirmed that the new hosts have been chosen for their knowledge of cars and their social media presence. Holland and Engelsman’s YouTube channel, Throttle House, has gained a large following, with over 3.2 million subscribers as of May 2025. The duo’s channel is known for its car reviews and track tests, and they have become popular among car enthusiasts. Francis Bourgeois, who has amassed millions of followers on social media, is also a well-known figure, particularly among younger audiences. His trainspotting videos have gone viral on TikTok and Instagram, and he has even featured cameos from celebrity fans, including singer Joe Jonas and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Bourgeois, whose real name is Luke Nicolson, has also ventured into modelling, collaborating with brands like Gucci and The North Face. He has also authored a book titled The Trainspotter’s Notebook, and hosted the Channel 4 digital series Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois, which featured appearances from footballer Jesse Lingard and musicians Sam Ryder and AJ Tracey. The production company co-owned by Clarkson, Hammond, and May – W Chump & Sons – was dissolved in July 2024, marking the end of an era for the trio. The company had produced The Grand Tour from 2016 to 2024, and it is unclear whether Clarkson, Hammond, and May will continue to make an income from any future seasons of the show. The Independent has contacted Prime Video for comment on the reports, but a spokesperson has yet to respond.
The news of the new hosts comes as no surprise, with Hammond confirming in September 2024 that the show would be continuing with new hosts. At the time, he admitted that he didn’t know who the new presenters would be, but shared some advice with his successors. “If you’re making any show that at its heart has a subject, whether it’s cooking, dancing or cars, the hosts, the primary makers of it, have to have that passion in their heart.
