Dozens Saved from Blaze Engulfing Large Flat


Large Fire at Warrington Block of Flats: 50 People Rescued

A significant fire broke out at a four-story block of flats on Marsh House Lane, Warrington, yesterday evening, prompting a large emergency services response. The Liverpool Echo reports that fifty people were rescued from the building, with some individuals being rescued from windows and balconies on the third and fourth floors.

The fire, which occurred in the stairwell, was attended by firefighters from Warrington, Birchwood, Lymm, Knutsford, Penketh, Alsager, and Widnes, as well as aerial ladder platforms from Lymm and Chester. The North West Ambulance Service also provided treatment to those rescued at the scene, fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

According to the Liverpool Echo, a spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue said: "At this time, it is believed everyone in the building has been accounted for, but firefighters will carry out thorough checks. The blue light response has been significant, but the number of emergency service resources are being reduced accordingly. Fire crews will remain in attendance overnight. Roads in the immediate area will remain closed. An investigation into the cause is underway."
