Angelina Jolie Marks 50th Birthday with Intimate Celebration
Angelina Jolie, the renowned actress and humanitarian, recently celebrated her 50th birthday on June 4. According to a source close to the star, Jolie “doesn’t want a big party” to mark the occasion. Instead, she opted for a more intimate celebration with her six children: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 18; Knox, 16; and Vivienne, also 16. [1]
The source, who spoke to PEOPLE, revealed that Jolie “seems genuinely excited and happy about turning 50,” but prefers to keep the celebration low-key. “She prefers a more intimate celebration with her kids,” the source added. This decision comes as no surprise, given Jolie’s recent focus on her family and well-being.
In recent years, Jolie has faced significant challenges, including a highly publicized divorce from Brad Pitt. However, a source close to the actress notes that “so much of her 40s were rough. She’s in a much better place now.” The source added that Jolie’s children are “amazing and thriving,” and that there is “less family drama.” Jolie and Pitt reached a divorce settlement in December 2024, after an eight-year legal battle. Jolie has been keeping busy in her career, recently stepping back into movies with her Maria Callas biopic on Netflix. The film marked her first acting role since she starred in 2021’s Those Who Wish Me Dead and Marvel’s Eternals. In 2023, she debuted her first movie as a director since 2017, Without Blood, which world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Her sons Maddox and Pax worked on the movie’s set, and Salma Hayek Pinault starred. [1]
In addition to her film work, Jolie has also been recognised for her humanitarian efforts. In 2024, she won her first Tony Award for producing the new musical The Outsiders. Her daughter Vivienne worked as a volunteer assistant on the production.
A separate insider told PEOPLE that Jolie “is embracing the idea of turning 50 and feels more grounded than ever” on her birthday. “She’s not shying away from getting older, in fact she’s leaning into it,” that source said. “Angie sees aging in a really positive light especially after losing her mom so young. She feels calm, inspired, and she’s excited about what’s ahead.” [1]
Jolie’s positive outlook on aging is likely influenced by her experiences, including the loss of her mother at a young age. Despite this, she appears to be approaching her 50th birthday with enthusiasm and gratitude. Recently, Jolie was spotted at the Cannes Film Festival in France, where she attended the Trophée Chopard dinner and the world premiere of Emma Stone’s new movie Eddington on May 16.
As Jolie begins this new chapter in her life, it’s clear that she is prioritising her family and well-being. With a renewed focus on her career and humanitarian work, Jolie is poised to continue making a positive impact in the years to come.
