In a hard-fought match, Argentina secured a 1-0 victory over Chile at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago, ensuring their top spot in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The only goal of the game came from Julián Álvarez in the 16th minute of the first half.

According to reports from La Nación, the Argentine team dominated the game, controlling the ball and creating scoring opportunities. Chile, on the other hand, struggled to create chances and were left frustrated by the Argentine defense.

Lionel Messi, who started on the bench, entered the game in the second half and had a significant impact, although Chile failed to capitalize on their chances.

Scaloni’s Team Dominates

As La Nación reports, Argentina’s coach, Lionel Scaloni, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, saying, "We played a great game, we controlled the ball and created scoring opportunities."
