Breaking News: Notorious Crime Boss Dies in Prison
A high-profile inmate, known to be one of the leaders of the Pian crime clan, has died while serving a three-year and three-month prison sentence at Jilava Penitentiary. According to reports from Adevărul, Laurențiu Duduianu, 36, was found unresponsive in his cell.
The circumstances surrounding his death are currently unknown, but it is reported that Duduianu had been experiencing chest pains and feelings of illness before being discovered lifeless. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into his death, with police and prosecutors working to determine the cause of death and whether Duduianu suffered from any pre-existing medical conditions.
At the time of writing, Duduianu’s body is being held at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (INML), where a post-mortem examination is awaited. A cellmate of the deceased crime boss has come forward with allegations of poor conditions within the penitentiary, as well as claims of inadequate treatment received by Duduianu.
In a statement to Antena 3 CNN, the cellmate described the conditions at Jilava Penitentiary as "disastrous", citing a lack of ventilation, air conditioning, and other essential facilities. The cellmate also claimed that Duduianu had been dismissed by medical staff, who allegedly told him that he was suffering from a "simple cold".
However, representatives from Jilava Penitentiary have released a statement providing a detailed account of the events leading up to Duduianu’s death. According to their report, Duduianu began experiencing symptoms on June 6, 2025, at around 11:30pm, complaining of poor health, chest pain, and difficulty breathing. He was subsequently presented to the prison’s medical cabinet, where he was administered medication.
Following a brief period of relief, Duduianu returned to the medical cabinet with increased chest pain, prompting medical staff to call for an ambulance. An EKG was performed, and the medical team decided to transport him to hospital. Adevărul reports that, according to the penitentiary’s account, Duduianu was conscious and able to communicate with medical staff at the time.
Tragically, upon exiting the prison in an SMURD ambulance, Duduianu went into cardiac arrest. Medical staff initiated resuscitation efforts, but despite the assistance of a second ambulance team, he was pronounced dead at 1:38am.
It is worth noting that Duduianu was serving a sentence for attempted murder, alongside his brother Vasile Duduianu, for their alleged roles in an act of revenge against the individual who killed their brother, Emi Pian, during a poker game dispute.
The incident has sparked an investigation, and authorities will work to establish the facts surrounding Laurențiu Duduianu’s death. Adevărul will continue to provide updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
