Walditch Road Closure Imminent: Long Disruption Ahead

Walditch Road Closure: Motorists Warned of Two-Week Shutdown

A major road in rural Dorset is set to be closed for two weeks, causing disruption to motorists and local residents. Walditch Road, which spans approximately 1795 metres, will be shut in its entirety from June 30, with works expected to be completed by July 16. According to the Bridport News, the closure is necessary to allow Dorset Council to carry out carriageway surface treatment works.

The road closure has been necessitated by the need to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. A temporary traffic management order has been made to facilitate the works, which will involve a parking suspension and clearway. Motorists are warned that any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

The Bridport News reports that a locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections. However, motorists are advised that the dates are a window of opportunity and the road may not be closed for the whole duration stated. The works are also weather dependant, which may affect the schedule.

The closure of Walditch Road will undoubtedly cause inconvenience to motorists and local residents. However, the works are essential to maintain the safety and condition of the road. As the Bridport News notes, the temporary traffic management order is necessary to ensure that the works can be carried out safely and efficiently.

In a statement, the Bridport News said that the road closure is a necessary measure to allow Dorset Council to carry out essential maintenance works. The council is responsible for maintaining the road network in Dorset, and the closure of Walditch Road is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure that the roads are safe and well-maintained.

The Bridport News has learned that the works will involve the provision of safe working areas and the minimisation of danger to highway users. The temporary traffic management order will be in place to ensure that the works can be carried out safely and efficiently. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and to follow the diversion route when in place.

The road closure is the latest in a series of measures aimed at maintaining the safety and condition of the road network in Dorset. As reported by the Bridport News, the council is committed to ensuring that the roads are safe and well-maintained, and the closure of Walditch Road is part of this effort.

As the Bridport News quotes, "A temporary traffic management order has been made for the work to be done. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users."

Residents and motorists are urged to stay informed about the latest developments regarding the road closure. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The planned works have been scheduled for some time, and the Bridport News understands that everything is being done to minimise disruption.

Motorists are advised to follow the Bridport News for the latest news and updates.
