England’s Soccer Aid Lineup: Angry Ginge’s Surprise Team Debut

Soccer Aid 2025: Angry Ginge and Celebrities to Take Part in Charity Match at Old Trafford

This year’s Soccer Aid charity match is set to take place at Old Trafford on Sunday, June 15, featuring a host of football legends and celebrities. The annual event, which was created by music legend Robbie Williams in 2006, aims to raise money for UNICEF to support children around the world in having healthy and happy childhoods. According to the Manchester Evening News, the match has raised over £90m for UNICEF since its inception.

The Manchester Evening News reports that among those taking part in the game is Twitch streamer, TikToker, and Youtuber Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle. The 23-year-old from Salford is best known for his football and video game streams, including Fortnite and FIFA (now EA FC). He has amassed over four million followers and subscribers across his various social media pages and was nominated for Best Sports Streamer at the 2024 Streamer Awards.

Morgan is also involved in Ballers League UK, a six-a-side football competition broadcast on Sky Sports, where he manages the Yanited team. This won’t be his first charity football match, having taken part in Match for Hope 2025, alongside KSI and Chunkz, and the 2025 Sidemen Charity Match. As a huge Manchester United fan, playing at Old Trafford and being managed by Wayne Rooney will be a huge occasion for Morgan, who idolised Rooney growing up.

In an interview with Indy100 in December 2024, Morgan praised Rooney, saying: “The one thing I’ll say about Wayne Rooney is that he’s absolutely brilliant, he’s just a normal, down to earth lad and he’s hilarious, he’s funny, he’s my idol as well growing up. The fact I’ve managed to go to his house and have a drink with him, let alone just to chill and speak to him is just crazy.” The Manchester Evening News notes that this won’t be the first time the two have met, as they have worked together previously.

This year’s England XI features a range of stars, including Jermain Defoe, Bear Grylls, Tom Grennan, Joe Hart, Gary Neville, and Louis Tomlinson. The Rest of the World XI will include Tony Bellew, Nemanja Vidic, Gorka Marquez, and Martin Compston. Wayne Rooney, Tommy Fury, and Vicky McClure will join Harry Redknapp on the England bench, while Peter Schmeichel will manage the World XI.

The live show will be hosted by UNICEF UK Ambassador Dermot O’Leary, who will be joined by Alex Scott, with Sam Matterface and Jason Manford providing commentary. The Manchester Evening News reports that the money raised from this year’s game could help UNICEF protect children from disease and malnutrition, support their mental health, and respond in times of crisis. Soccer Aid 2025 takes place on Sunday, June 15, at Old Trafford, with coverage on ITV1 from 6pm.

The event has become a staple of British charity football, with many celebrities and football legends taking part over the years. With its continued success, Soccer Aid has cemented its place as one of the most popular and enduring charity events in the UK. For those interested in watching the match, it will be broadcast on ITV1 on Sunday, June 15, from 6pm.
