Tomlinson Praises Styles in Rare One Direction Moment

Louis Tomlinson Praises Former Bandmate Harry Styles: ‘I’m Very Proud of Him’

Louis Tomlinson has publicly expressed his admiration for his former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles, saying he couldn’t be prouder of the global superstar. The two found fame on The X Factor in 2010, along with Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and the late Liam Payne. After finishing in third place, the group went on to achieve immense success, touring the globe, releasing numerous chart-topping records, and winning dozens of awards.

According to a report from the Mirror, Louis, 33, appeared on the Yoto Daily Soccer Aid Special podcast, where he opened up about his relationship with Harry, 31. "I do still know him," Louis said. "I used to be in a band with him, we’re not in a band anymore, so that’s what happens. But yeah, still good friends with him." The Mirror reported that Louis also expressed his pride in Harry’s accomplishments, stating, "Still very, very proud of him, taking over the world, definitely."

The Mirror revealed that fans reacted positively to Louis’s comments, with many taking to social media to express their delight. One fan wrote, "Oh God, that’s so cute," while another added, "My heart just exploded." A third fan exclaimed, "I’m sobbing so f***ng hard. Nobody speak to me. This is the best day ever." The Mirror also reported that since launching their solo careers, both Louis and Harry have achieved significant success.

As reported by the Mirror, Louis has released two studio albums, Walls and Faith in the Future, which charted at Number Four and Number One, respectively. Harry has also released three successful solo albums, including Harry’s House, which hit the top spot across the globe. The Mirror noted that Harry has won an impressive six BRIT Awards and three solo Grammy Awards.

The Mirror also reported that Louis’s comments come ahead of his participation in Soccer Aid for UNICEF, where he will play alongside other celebrities, including Tom Grennan and Jill Scott. The match will take place on June 15th at Old Trafford, Manchester, and will air on ITV1 and ITVX. As quoted by the Mirror, Louis said, "It’s the only real opportunity you get to play in a football game of that magnitude if you’re not a professional footballer. So it’s very exciting for a football fan, and coupled with all the good that the charity has done over the past two decades, it’s remarkable really."

In an interview with TV Week, Louis reflected on his experience playing in the 2016 Soccer Aid match against his One Direction bandmate Niall Horan. The Mirror reported that Louis said, "I played against my One Direction bandmate Niall Horan in 2016. I’m the kind of guy who will rub it in your face when I win. So I kind of enjoyed having that over Niall for a couple of years!"

The Mirror also spoke to Louis’s younger sisters, twins Daisy and Phoebe, who will be attending the match to support their brother. As reported by the Mirror, Phoebe said, "Obviously, with Louis playing, I’ve only attended once, but it was really fun. Super excited, Louis playing just makes it more interesting and a bit more funny as well." Daisy added, "I wouldn’t say I feel as nervous seeing him play football than sing but I probably should. He sings more than he plays football but I heard he’s been putting in the graft in training so I shouldn’t feel too nervous on the day."
