Duplantis fracasse le record du monde avec 6,28 m

Mondo Duplantis Shatters Pole Vault World Record Again

In a stunning display of athleticism, Swedish pole vaulter Armand "Mondo" Duplantis has broken his own world record for the twelfth time, clearing a height of 6.28m at the Diamond League meeting in Stockholm. The 25-year-old athlete achieved this feat on his first attempt, sending the crowd into raptures at the historic Olympic stadium.

According to Le Figaro, Duplantis had been eyeing this moment for a long time, stating that it was his "absolute dream" to leave his mark on the Stockholm Olympic stadium in front of his home crowd. The athlete’s record-breaking jump came after he had secured victory in the competition by clearing 6.00m.

The French publication reports that Duplantis was overjoyed after his record-breaking jump, exclaiming that it would be "one of the greatest memories of my career." The athlete’s achievement was met with thunderous applause from the crowd, with spectators standing up to witness the historic moment. Duplantis celebrated his record by removing his yellow and blue jersey and running into the arms of his mother.

This latest record-breaking performance comes just under four months after Duplantis set a previous record of 6.27m at the All Star Perche meeting in Clermont-Ferrand on February 28, 2025. The Swedish athlete has expressed his confidence in reaching even greater heights, stating that he believes he can achieve a jump of 6.30m this year. As Le Figaro quotes Duplantis, "It’s not a big margin, I suppose it gets a bit more difficult as you go higher, but I think I’m just a day away from achieving it."

The Stockholm meeting also saw other notable performances, with Dutch athlete Femke Bol breaking the meeting record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.11 seconds. Meanwhile, Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia won the 100m dash in 10.75 seconds, just 0.03 seconds off her personal best. Australian Nicola Olyslagers, the Olympic silver medalist, achieved her best performance of the season with a high jump of 2.01m, edging out Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh.

As noted by Le Figaro, Renaud Lavillenie, the former French record holder, was impressed by Duplantis’ performance, commenting that "there was hardly any error, and it all went perfectly on the first attempt. It’s incredible that everything went smoothly."

Duplantis’ record-breaking jump was a special moment for the athlete, who had first competed at the Stockholm Olympic stadium at the age of 11. As Le Figaro reports, Duplantis stated that he had "already been high for my age" back then, and that having his name etched in the stadium’s history is "really special."

The Swedish athlete’s achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his sport. With his sights set on even greater heights, Duplantis is sure to continue to dominate the world of pole vaulting for years to come.
