Breaking News: Woman Captured in Connection with Attempted Assassination of Miguel Uribe
In a significant breakthrough, Colombian authorities have apprehended a woman known as ‘Gabriela’, who is believed to be a key figure in the attempted assassination of presidential candidate and senator Miguel Uribe Turbay. The incident occurred on June 7 in the Modelia neighbourhood of Bogotá.
According to reports from El Tiempo, the woman, identified as Katerine A. Martínez, was captured on June 14 in Florencia, Caquetá, after a thorough investigation by the Fiscalía and Policía. A judge in Bogotá had issued an arrest warrant for Martínez, based on evidence that linked her to the crime.
As reported by El Tiempo, Martínez is believed to have played a crucial role in the attack, which involved a network of individuals. She was seen with alias ‘el Costeño’ when the hitman collected a Glock pistol from a grey Spark car driven by Carlos Eduardo Mora González, a Colombian-Venezuelan national who has already been judicialized for his involvement in the attack.
The investigation, as detailed by El Tiempo, reveals that Martínez changed her appearance by dyeing her hair and travelled to Florencia, Caquetá, where she was eventually located. Her hideout is noteworthy, as Mora González, the driver of the Spark car, has ties to the city and is facing charges for illegal possession of firearms dating back to 2024.
The El Tiempo report also suggests that Martínez, alias ‘Gabriela’, was instrumental in hiring a motorcyclist who transported the hitman to the Modelia neighbourhood. She is also believed to be in a romantic relationship with alias ‘el Costeño’, who hired the hitman and was seen getting out of the same car.
As El Tiempo notes, the motorcyclist who received a transfer for his services and provided the hitman with a cell phone to make a call has confirmed Martínez’s involvement. She is currently being questioned, and a hearing is scheduled for later today to formalize her capture and charge her with crimes.
This development marks a significant milestone in the investigation into the attempted assassination of Miguel Uribe Turbay. As the Fiscalía and Policía continue to unravel the complex web of individuals involved, one thing is clear: ‘Gabriela’ is a key player in this sinister plot.
In related news, El Tiempo has previously reported on the apartment in Plaza de las Américas and Ecuador, which was allegedly linked to the attack.
The Unidad Investigativa team at El Tiempo has been working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice, and their efforts have led to this significant breakthrough.
