Fury Picks New Heavyweight Champ to Down Usyk

Daniel Dubois Set to Dethrone Oleksandr Usyk, Claims John Fury

In a bold prediction, John Fury has stated that Daniel Dubois will be the man to beat Oleksandr Usyk, the current undisputed heavyweight champion. This assertion comes on the heels of Tyson Fury’s encounters with Usyk in 2024, where the Ukrainian boxer emerged victorious in both bouts, handing ‘The Gypsy King’ his first professional defeats. According to Seconds Out, John Fury expressed his confidence in Dubois’s abilities to overcome Usyk.

Usyk, who has previously defeated Anthony Joshua twice, is set to face Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on July 19 for a second time. Their initial encounter in August 2023 ended with Usyk securing a ninth-round stoppage victory. Despite being outboxed for most of the fight, Dubois had managed to drop Usyk with a shot that was initially thought to be a body shot but was later ruled a low blow. The promotion for their rematch has largely centred around this contentious incident. As quoted by Seconds Out, John Fury shared his insights on the upcoming fight.

In an exclusive interview with Seconds Out, John Fury expressed his conviction that Dubois will emerge victorious. "Good luck to Oleksandr Usyk, but again, he’s going to go on too long. And I just see Daniel Dubois becoming a multi-belt champion. Because how many fights have you got in you? You come up from cruiserweight to heavyweight, you’ve got these big men banging away at you. He’s only got to walk into one," he stated. John Fury further elaborated on Dubois’s chances, highlighting his formidable KO power and recent performance against Anthony Joshua.

As reported by Seconds Out, John Fury’s prediction is based on his assessment of Dubois’s abilities and Usyk’s current form. "He’s 38, 39 years old. Dubois is a big banger and he’s on a roll. Excellent fight with Anthony Joshua. AJ hurt him. It was touch and go that fight until he landed that shot, because I actually thought when AJ rushed in to get him he hurt him … He’s got this KO power. If he gets it home this time on Usyk, who’s had the tank emptied twice by the Gypsy King, how much has he got left? Is it the right time for Dubois? I think it is. My money’s going on him," John Fury explained.

While a considerable number of fans believe that this version of Dubois could pose the toughest challenge yet for Usyk, the Ukrainian boxer has revealed that there is one fighter who hit him even harder than Dubois. Nevertheless, John Fury remains adamant that Dubois has what it takes to dethrone Usyk. As Seconds Out previously reported, the stage is set for an intriguing encounter between Dubois and Usyk.

In conclusion, John Fury’s prediction that Daniel Dubois will defeat Oleksandr Usyk has generated significant interest in the boxing community. With Dubois’s impressive performance against Anthony Joshua and his formidable KO power, it is clear that he poses a substantial threat to Usyk’s reign as undisputed heavyweight champion. As noted by Seconds Out, the upcoming fight between Dubois and Usyk promises to be an exciting and closely contested bout.
