Sports Business Journal’s Forty Under 40: Jason Green’s Rise to Chief Revenue Officer
In a significant promotion, Jason Green has been appointed as the Chief Revenue Officer for the Miami Dolphins, F1 Miami Grand Prix, Miami Open, and Hard Rock Stadium. This move comes after he returned to the Dolphins in 2023, following a five-year stint with the Los Angeles Clippers. According to Sports Business Journal, Green’s new role involves overseeing sponsorships, in addition to his previous responsibilities in ticket sales.
Green’s career has been marked by significant achievements, including restructuring ticket sales and service staff to create a more unified team across the tennis, F1, and NFL properties. Under his leadership, the Dolphins have risen to No. 3 in the NFL for net gate receipts, and the 2024 Miami Open hit a new revenue high-water mark. Furthermore, this year’s Grand Prix sold out, demonstrating Green’s ability to drive revenue growth and event success.
In an interview with Sports Business Journal, Green reflected on his new role, saying, "The learning curve is steep, and it’s great… I probably haven’t felt this way in terms of the learning curve since I became an inside sales manager in San Diego [for the Padres]." Green’s enthusiasm for his new challenges is evident, as he navigates the complexities of executive leadership.
Green’s career trajectory was influenced by his early days in San Diego, where he worked for the Padres. He recalled the impact of great leadership, as team president Tom Garfinkel and Jonathan Tillman overhauled the franchise, changing processes and boosting sales and morale. Green noted, "Everybody’s having more fun, everyone’s making more money, and you think, ‘This is great.’ For me, it just clicked. That’s just leadership."
As Chief Revenue Officer, Green is responsible for driving revenue growth across multiple properties. His achievements to date are impressive, with the Miami Dolphins, F1 Miami Grand Prix, Miami Open, and Hard Rock Stadium all experiencing significant growth under his leadership. Green’s promotion to this role demonstrates his value to the organisation and his potential for future success.
Green’s background and education have prepared him well for his current role. Born in San Diego, he holds a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.A. in sport management from the University of San Francisco. He is also dedicated to supporting causes close to his heart, including the Pancreatic Cancer Network (PanCAN) and the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.
