Kiltie poised for Kilmarnock return as Saints trio move on

Greg Kiltie Set for Kilmarnock Return

A deal is believed to be close for St Mirren midfielder Greg Kiltie to return to Kilmarnock, according to a report from the Daily Record. The 28-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with the Buddies, but it is understood that new Kilmarnock boss Stuart Kettlewell is keen on bringing him back to Rugby Park.

Kiltie has been with St Mirren for four years, during which time he has made nearly 150 appearances and scored 11 goals. He has been part of three top-six Premiership finishes with the club and helped them end their 37-year exile from European football. However, Kiltie’s time at St Mirren has not been without its challenges, including ankle surgery last summer that saw him miss the club’s UEFA Conference League matches.

The midfielder’s personal life may also be a factor in his potential return to Kilmarnock, as he and his partner recently became parents and live in the town. Losing Kiltie would be a blow to St Mirren, who were looking to sign at least six new players this summer.

Kiltie’s potential return to Kilmarnock comes as no surprise, given his past connections to the club. As the Daily Record reports, "Kiltie and his partner became parents last summer and they live in Kilmarnock." This, combined with Kettlewell’s interest in the player, suggests that a deal could be close.

Meanwhile, two former St Mirren players have secured moves to English clubs. Centre-back Richard Taylor has joined Bolton Wanderers, while Northern Irish international Caolan Boyd-Munce has signed with Wycombe Wanderers. Taylor has signed a three-year deal with Bolton, who are looking to return to the Championship.

Taylor expressed his excitement about joining the club, saying: "Joining Bolton Wanderers is a massive opportunity for me and I’m absolutely buzzing to be here. You can feel the ambition around the place and I want to be a big part of taking this historic club forward."

Boyd-Munce, who has reunited with his former manager Mike Dodds at Wycombe, also expressed his enthusiasm for the move. "He’s a really energetic player and suits the way we want to play," Dodds said. "We’re looking forward to bringing him into the squad for the new season."

The Daily Record also reports that St Mirren goalkeeper Zach Hemming’s future remains uncertain. The 25-year-old has enjoyed successful loan spells with the Buddies, but his parent club Middlesbrough are currently without a manager.

As the summer transfer window heats up, St Mirren will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The club’s players return to pre-season training on Thursday and will head to Spain for a training camp after a friendly with Dumbarton on June 28.

The news of Kiltie’s potential return to Kilmarnock will come as a boost to the club’s fans, who will be eager to see the midfielder back in action at Rugby Park. As the Daily Record notes, Kiltie "has been part of three top-six Premiership finishes with Saints and helped the club end their 37-year European football exile."
