Celtic Intensify Bid to Keep Taylor with Lucrative Contract Offer

Celtic Offer Improved Deal to Greg Taylor in Bid to Keep Him at Parkhead

Celtic are making a fresh attempt to persuade left-back Greg Taylor to stay at Parkhead, according to reports. The Daily Record understands that the Hoops are willing to offer the Scotland international a new, improved three-year deal in a bid to keep him from leaving on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old had been expected to depart Celtic at the end of the season, with Dinamo Zagreb leading the chase for his signature. However, talks between Taylor’s representatives and the Celtic hierarchy have been ongoing for several months, and the club has now tabled an improved offer. The new deal would see Taylor receive a significant wage rise and keep him at Celtic Park until the summer of 2028.

As reported by the Daily Record, "Celtic are ready to up the ante and want to offer Greg Taylor a new improved, three-year deal to try to keep him with Brendan Rodgers’ champions." The newspaper also notes that Taylor’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and that Dinamo Zagreb had been keen to sign him.

One of the main challenges for Taylor is that he will still have to play second fiddle to Kieran Tierney, who will return to Celtic in the summer after his loan spell at Arsenal comes to an end. Tierney has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, which may provide Taylor with opportunities to feature regularly. However, the Scotland international will also have to consider offers from elsewhere, including Dinamo Zagreb, who have already made a bid for him.

The Daily Record reports that Taylor has an offer on the table from Dinamo Zagreb, but that could now be impacted by the fact that coach Fabio Cannavaro has since been sacked. The Croatian side tried to sign him in January and then offered a big deal to land him in the summer. Taylor also has interest from Major League Soccer, Italy, and England, which could complicate Celtic’s attempts to keep him.

Brendan Rodgers, Celtic’s manager, has expressed his desire to keep Taylor at the club. After the Kilmarnock game, he admitted that he would "fight to the very end" to keep a player of Taylor’s quality. Taylor’s recent form has been impressive, and he put in a man-of-the-match display against Kilmarnock at the weekend. The Daily Record notes that Taylor has also just become a dad, and that his young daughter Ruvie was a mascot for the Kilmarnock game. Family reasons could be another big factor in his next move, and possibly remaining in Scotland.

The improved offer from Celtic is a significant development in the transfer saga, and it remains to be seen whether Taylor will accept the deal or look to move elsewhere. As the Daily Record reports, "Celtic are now looking to convince him to remain in Glasgow." With the new deal on the table, Taylor will have a tough decision to make about his future.

According to the Daily Record, Taylor’s decision will be influenced by several factors, including his desire for regular game time and his family commitments. The newspaper notes that "family reasons could be another big factor in his next move and possibly remaining in Scotland." As the Daily Record previously reported, Taylor had been expected to leave Celtic at the end of the season, but the improved offer from the club has changed the situation.

The Daily Record understands that Celtic are keen to keep Taylor and are willing to do whatever it takes to persuade him to stay. The newspaper reports that "Celtic are ready to up the ante and want to offer Greg Taylor a new improved, three-year deal to try to keep him with Brendan Rodgers’ champions." With the new deal on the table, Taylor will have to weigh up his options and make a decision about his future.
