Sky Sports Presenter Anna Woolhouse Shares Health Update After Endometriosis Surgery
Sky Sports presenter Anna Woolhouse has shared a new health update with fans after undergoing surgery for endometriosis earlier this month. The 41-year-old, known for her coverage of boxing and darts events, took to social media to reveal her progress.
According to the Daily Mail, Woolhouse informed fans two weeks ago that she had undergone surgery for the second time due to the condition. The presenter opened up on the surgery to help “shine a light on a condition that still isn’t spoken about nearly enough.”
In her latest update, Woolhouse revealed she has been able to start swimming again. “This fish is very happy to be back in the water,” Woolhouse said. She shared images of herself swimming, writing that it felt “SO good to be back in the pool” after not being able to do much over the past couple of weeks.
Woolhouse also spoke about her recovery, saying she is still taking things slowly. “No big sessions yet and swimming/stationary bike are really all I can do atm, but one big thing I’ve taken away from not being able to do a great deal post op is how much we can take for granted what a privilege it is being able to move our bodies,” she said.
The presenter, who has fronted numerous high-profile fights and major darts events for Sky, expressed her enthusiasm to get back to her fitness routine. “I cannot wait to get stuck back into proper training and hopefully tick off a couple of big challenges this summer,” she said. “Weight/strength training is still a couple of weeks off for me but when I can get back into it I promise I will never moan about a squat ever again.”
Woolhouse initially shared news of her surgery earlier this month, revealing she had undergone a laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis. She shared a picture of herself in her hospital gown with a thumbs up, as well as her patched-up stomach. In her caption, she wrote: “The comeback is always greater than the setback.”
The Daily Mail reports that Woolhouse aimed to raise awareness about endometriosis, a condition that affects 1 in 10 women. According to the NHS, endometriosis is where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb grow in other parts of the body.
Woolhouse’s condition has had a significant impact on her life, with the presenter revealing that she was first diagnosed back in 2017 after years of endless GP appointments. She had her first surgery in 2018 and for a couple of years her symptoms did improve, but the condition returned, and she has since undergone another surgery.
The Sky Sports presenter has used her platform to raise awareness about endometriosis and to encourage others to speak openly about their experiences. As the Daily Mail notes, Woolhouse is a fitness enthusiast and often shares workout content with her large social media following, which includes over 188,000 followers on Instagram.
