Celebrity Big Brother Viewers Left Disgusted by Chris Hughes and Jojo Siwa’s Behaviour
A recent episode of Celebrity Big Brother has sparked outrage among viewers, with contestants Chris Hughes and Jojo Siwa at the centre of the controversy. The pair, who have been rumoured to have a close relationship, have been accused of being "inconsiderate savages" after using litter trays provided for a task to urinate in.
According to The Independent, the incident occurred during Friday’s episode (18 April), in which Olympic athlete Daley Thompson was evicted from the house. The task, which required housemates to behave and dress as cats for the day, provided litter trays in the communal bathroom, but with no instructions on how to use them. However, Siwa and Hughes took it upon themselves to use the litter trays, with Hughes even inspecting the soiled tray on his hands and knees.
The actions sparked disgust on social media, with many viewers branding the pair "attention-seeking". "The disgusting thing about actually using those litter trays, is that some poor underpaid sod on the lowest rung of the production team backstage is going to have to clean that out," wrote one viewer on X/Twitter. "Chris and JoJo are inconsiderate savages." Another viewer expressed similar sentiments, stating: "Jojo and Chris are peeing on a prop. Disgusting. This isn’t entertainment. It’s disgusting."
As reported by The Independent, the pair’s actions have drawn comparisons to a historic Big Brother moment, in which politician George Galloway and Coronation Street actor Rula Lenska acted as cats. "Who thought Chris Hughes and Jojo Siwa weeing in a litter tray was going to give this moment a run for its money," commented one person alongside a picture of Lenska petting Galloway.
The incident has also sparked speculation about the nature of Hughes and Siwa’s relationship, with many viewers questioning whether there are romantic undertones to their friendship. Earlier in the week, Hughes’ ex-partner Olivia Attwood appeared to take a swipe at the star, stating: "The internet is going two ways – the internet is going that there’s something there, there might be feelings from one side or the other. The other side of the internet is asking is Chris playing the game – she has a lot of followers, she’s very famous…"
The Celebrity Big Brother contestants have been making headlines in recent weeks, with many viewers tuning in to see how the relationships between the stars will play out. However, Siwa and Hughes’ latest antics have left a sour taste in the mouths of many viewers, who are now questioning whether the pair’s behaviour is a ploy for attention or a genuine display of their personalities.
As previously reported by The Independent, Siwa and Hughes have developed a close friendship during their time in the house, with Hughes reassuring Siwa when she was subject to homophobic comments by actor Mickey Rourke. Although Rourke was eventually removed for other reasons, including "threatening and aggressive behaviour" to Hughes and the use of "inappropriate sexual language" to Ella Mae Wise, Hughes and Siwa have remained close.
In response to the incident, Big Brother issued a warning to the housemates, stating: "This is Big Brother. House cats are reminded that they can use the human toilets." The incident has raised questions about the behaviour of reality TV stars and the lengths to which they will go to gain attention.
