Meghan Markle Hints at Princess Lilibet’s Easter Outfit with Nod to Kate Middleton’s Favourite Brand
As Easter approaches, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has given a glimpse into her holiday plans by curating a selection of festive items on her affiliate commerce website, ShopMy. The "Easter Edit" section, launched on April 14, features 25 items, including children’s clothes, Easter basket goodies, and holiday home decor. Among the featured items are two looks from clothing brands that have been favoured by Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales.
According to an article in People.com, Meghan, 43, showcased the latest additions to her ShopMy website on her Instagram Stories, sharing a video scrolling through the selections. The Easter-themed items include the Baby Bella Bunny Petal Dress ($76) from Trotters and the Gathered Woven Dress ($49) from Boden, both of which are brands that Kate Middleton has previously chosen for her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
People.com reports that Princess Kate has often dressed her children in looks from Trotters, a quintessentially British childrenswear brand known for its timeless style. Sophie Mirman, the founder of Trotters, told People.com exclusively that the dress Meghan chose to highlight is a "very sweet, traditional Easter dress" that is a "perennial bestseller" for the brand. "It’s very exciting, but that’s how I feel when I see our outfits on any child," Mirman added. "Of course, when it’s a high-profile child, we are obviously thrilled to bits!"
Mirman also noted that getting a royal endorsement has a significant impact on sales. "As soon as one of the young royals is photographed wearing one of our pieces, it just sells out," she explained. "In the U.S. especially, the Americans seem to love our royal family!" This sentiment is echoed in the popularity of Trotters and Boden among royal families, with both brands being staples in the wardrobes of Kate Middleton’s children.
The Princess of Wales has also outfitted Princess Charlotte with clothes from Boden, one of her own favourite labels. For example, Princess Charlotte wore a cozy striped sweater from Boden for her 8th birthday portrait taken by Kate in 2023.
In addition to the Trotters and Boden dresses, Meghan’s "Easter Edit" features a range of other festive items, including a white striped suit from Crewcuts, the children’s division of J.Crew, one of her own go-to labels. The Duchess of Sussex may have been thinking of her son Prince Archie, 5, when she added the Boys’ Ludlow Unstructured Suit Jacket ($168) and matching pants ($98), or that her kids would twin in the Petite Plume Kids’ Twill Pajama Set ($58), which she added in both blue and pink gingham.
The final item of children’s clothing in the Easter roundup was the Meri Meri Mint Baby Bunny Booties ($22). Meghan also seemed to add supplies to make a classic Easter basket for little ones to celebrate the holiday, including a Maisonette Bunny Easter Basket, a set of Surprise Eggs from Meri Meri, a box of gummy carrot candy from Bonjour Fete, a LEGO Bunny toy, and more.
The Duchess of Sussex’s Easter picks also included drinking glasses from Anthropologie, a blue floral tablecloth from Serena & Lily, and Cream Artificial Blossom Branch from Afloral. Until now, Meghan’s ShopMy closet focused on her fashion with the tabs "My Closet" and "As Seen on Instagram," as well as "Beauty" and "The Wedding Edit," though both of those makeup-focused pages have disappeared.
Meghan’s ShopMy site is topped with a black-and-white portrait of her by longtime photographer Jake Rosenberg that she also uses as her Instagram avatar and a note about what the products mean to her. "A handpicked and curated collection of the things I love — I hope you enjoy them!" Meghan wrote, along with the note, "Please note, some products may contain commissionable links."
As for Meghan’s Easter plans, she has shared glimpses of their recent holiday celebrations on her Instagram page, which she relaunched at the start of the year, showing Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet marking Valentine’s Day with red bagels and strawberries cut into heart shapes, as well as a green meal for St. Patrick’s Day. The Duchess of Sussex recently opened up to People.com about life at home in California, including the family’s morning routine, in an exclusive interview.
"I’m up before my kids are, so I’m normally up at 6:30, and then I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs," she said. "I love making breakfast for my family." “My husband and Archie both love fried eggs," Meghan added. "There’s a lot of bacon around here. And then sometimes you don’t have time for all that, and you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster and call it a day. And there’s no shame in that either.”
