Browns Bolster Defense with DT Mason Graham at No. 5

Cleveland Browns Bolster Defensive Line with Selection of DT Mason Graham in 2025 NFL Draft

In a move that is set to strengthen their defensive line, the Cleveland Browns have selected defensive tackle Mason Graham with the fifth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, according to a report from the Cleveland Browns’ official website. This significant addition is expected to bring depth and disruption to the team’s defensive line, which already features a number of talented players.

Graham, who played for the University of Michigan, appeared in 39 career games over the course of three seasons. During his collegiate career, he recorded an impressive 108 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three passes defensed, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble. These statistics demonstrate his ability to make a significant impact on the field, and the Browns’ coaching staff are clearly excited about his potential.

According to the Cleveland Browns’ official website, Head Coach Kevin Stefanski views Graham as a "perfect fit" for the team’s defensive line. Stefanski praised Graham’s skill set, saying "Just the way his skill set, the way he gets off the ball, and the way he’s able to disrupt is exactly what we do." He also noted that Graham’s ability to make plays in both the run game and the pass game will be valuable in the Browns’ scheme.

Stefanski also highlighted Graham’s potential to develop into a dominant force in the league, saying "Now, he did that sometimes, maybe not all the time as are some two gapping in Michigan’s system, but you saw plenty of times that when he goes, he goes. He has great balance, great ability to be disruptive, and make plays in the run game and in the pass game. Those interior rushers are really valuable in this scheme." With Stefanski’s endorsement, it is clear that Graham has the potential to make a significant impact in Cleveland.

Graham joins a defensive line that already features a number of talented players, including 2023 Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett on the edge. The Browns’ defensive line also includes Sam Kamara, Isaiah McGuire, Ogbo Okoronkwo, Julian Okwara, Elerson G. Smith, Cameron Thomas, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, and Alex Wright on the ends. On the interior, Graham joins a unit that consists of Jowon Briggs, Maliek Collins, Mike Hall Jr., Shelby Harris, and Ralph Holley. With the addition of Graham, the Browns’ defensive line is shaping up to be one of the strongest in the league.

The Browns have also added depth to their defensive line during free agency, with the signings of Collins, Okwara, and Tryon-Shoyinka. Graham’s addition to the unit brings further depth to a position that is awaiting the return of Hall, who sustained a knee injury in Week 18 of the 2024 season. As reported by the Cleveland Browns’ official website, the selection of Graham is a significant coup for the team, and fans will be eager to see him in action in the coming season.

The Cleveland Browns’ selection of Mason Graham in the 2025 NFL Draft is a clear indication of their commitment to building a strong and competitive team. With Graham’s addition to the defensive line, the Browns are shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with in the league. As the Cleveland Browns’ official website reports, the team is clearly excited about Graham’s potential, and fans will be eager to see him make an impact in the coming season.
