Flamengo e Corinthians lideram ranking de maiores torcidas do Brasil

Flamengo Maintains Lead as Brazil’s Largest Football Fanbase

Football in Brazil is more than just a sport; it’s a passion that mobilizes millions of people and reflects the country’s cultural identity. According to a recent survey conducted by MixVale, Flamengo continues to lead as the club with the largest fanbase in Brazil, representing 24.8% of fans, equivalent to 53 million supporters.

The survey, which was conducted with 2,000 people between February 6 and 20, covered all regions of the country and confirmed the hegemony of the Flamengo. With a margin of error of 2 percentage points, the data reveals not only the popularity of the club but also its economic and social influence. Corinthians, with 19.4% (41 million), follows in second place, while Palmeiras and São Paulo compete for third place with 8.1% and 7.7%, respectively.

“The football in Brazil is a phenomenon that transcends the field,” said the researchers at MixVale. “The Flamengo’s fanbase is a significant example of this, with a strong presence in all regions of the country.”

The strength of Flamengo’s fanbase goes beyond the number of supporters. In 2024, the club achieved a historical revenue of over R$ 1 billion, driven by sponsorships, ticket sales, and merchandising. This financial solidity allows for investments in infrastructure, strategic signings, and marketing strategies that further expand its fanbase. Meanwhile, Corinthians, despite its loyal fanbase, faces financial challenges that contrast with its popular strength.

According to MixVale, Flamengo’s digital presence is one of the pillars of its popularity. With millions of followers on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, the club maintains a constant dialogue with its fans. Videos of behind-the-scenes footage, player interviews, and interactive content attract new fans, especially among the younger generation.

The survey also highlighted the regional strength of Flamengo’s fanbase, particularly in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil. In states like Amazonas and Pará, the club is the preferred choice of around 30% of fans, surpassing local teams. This strong presence in areas distant from Rio de Janeiro reflects Flamengo’s ability to build a national identity, supported by historical conquests and idols like Zico and Gabigol.

“The Flamengo’s fanbase is a force that drives the club’s success,” said the researchers at MixVale. “With a strong digital presence and a loyal fanbase, the club is well-positioned to continue leading the Brazilian football scene.”

The rivalry between Flamengo and Corinthians intensifies the passion of the fans. Corinthians, with 41 million supporters (19.4%), is the main rival of Flamengo in the ranking of fanbases. The strength of Corinthians is especially notable in São Paulo, where the Neo Química Arena, with a capacity for 47,000 people, is a symbol of devotion.

The dispute for third place in the ranking of fanbases is one of the most competitive points of the study. Palmeiras, with 17 million supporters (8.1%), and São Paulo, with 16 million (7.7%), are technically tied, due to the margin of error of 2 percentage points.

The growth of Northeast teams, such as Sport and Bahia, is a sign that football is becoming more decentralized. While Flamengo leads with 53 million supporters, other clubs are investing in strategies to attract new fans. This healthy competition strengthens Brazilian football, which continues to be one of the country’s greatest passions.

Here are the updated numbers of the largest fanbases, according to the MixVale survey:

* Flamengo: 53 million (24.8%)
* Corinthians: 41 million (19.4%)
* Palmeiras: 17 million (8.1%)
* São Paulo: 16 million (7.7%)
* Vasco: 10 million (4.8%)
* Grêmio: 9.4 million (4.4%)
* Atlético Mineiro: 8.6 million (4.0%)
* Santos: 6.6 million (3.1%)
* Internacional: 6.2 million (2.9%)
* Cruzeiro: 5.8 million (2.7%)

The MixVale survey provides valuable insights into the Brazilian football scene, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each club. As the sport continues to evolve, one thing is certain: Flamengo’s fanbase will remain a force to be reckoned with.
