Tom Hanks’ Greyhound Sequel Set to Start Filming in Australia in January 2026
A sequel to Tom Hanks’ World War II action film, Greyhound, is set to begin filming in Sydney, Australia in January 2026, according to a report from Deadline. The news was announced exclusively by the entertainment publication, which revealed that Hanks will reprise his role as Captain Krause and has also penned the script for the sequel.
The original Greyhound film, released in 2020, received critical acclaim for its portrayal of a U.S. Navy commander who leads an Allied convoy being stalked by a German submarine wolf pack during World War II. The film was based on the 1955 novel The Good Shepherd and also starred Rob Morgan and Elisabeth Shue. As reported by Deadline, the sequel will follow Krause and the Greyhound crew as they help turn the tide of the war, taking them from the beaches of Normandy to the ocean in the Pacific.
According to Deadline, talks are currently underway with key cast members from the first film to reprise their roles, including Stephen Graham, who recently received rave reviews for his performance in the Netflix hit Adolescence. While deals have not yet been finalized, it is expected that the main players will return for the sequel.
