Good Morning Britain Star Ed Balls in ‘Immense Pain’ After Football Match
Good Morning Britain presenter Ed Balls has revealed he is in “immense pain” after a football match at the weekend. The 58-year-old, who was absent from the programme last week, returned to the show on Monday and addressed his absence at the beginning of the broadcast. According to the Manchester Evening News, Ed Balls confessed to being in pain after playing football on Saturday.
The Manchester Evening News reported that Ed Balls was seen sporting a suntanned appearance on the programme, prompting co-presenter Susanna Reid to joke that he had been on an exotic beach. However, Ed Balls revealed that he had actually been on a sailing boat in the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, and Poole. “I was on a sailing boat last week, and it was very sunny, it turned out. I think all the rays were reflecting off of the water,” he said.
In an update on his condition, Ed Balls told viewers that he was struggling to move after the football match. “I also played football on Saturday and I’m in immense pain, I can hardly move having played this football match. So, sunkissed but a bit stiff,” he said. The Manchester Evening News noted that Susanna Reid also took a moment to mention Ed Balls’ infamous blunder 14 years ago, which is now known as Ed Balls Day.
On April 28, 2011, Ed Balls accidentally tweeted out his own name while looking for articles about himself. The Manchester Evening News stated that since then, people have been mentioning the hilarious blunder on Twitter each year, which has now been dubbed as ‘Ed Balls Day’. Susanna Reid marked the occasion by saying: “Before we crack on, let me just say, Happy Ed Balls Day!” Ed Balls replied: “Oh my gosh, well, and happy GMB day.”
The Manchester Evening News also reported that the duo mentioned that it was Good Morning Britain’s 11th anniversary, as Ed Balls highlighted that his day was older than the programme.
In related news, the Manchester Evening News has been informed that Twitter users have been marking Ed Balls Day, with one person commenting: “Happy Ed Balls day to all those who celebrate! Seems to come round quicker every year!” Another person wrote: “Happy 15th Ed Balls Day to all who celebrate.”
