Suriya’s Film Under Fire: Fans Criticize Weak Script, Dialogue

Retro Twitter Reviews: Fans Weigh In on Suriya’s Latest Film

The latest film starring Suriya, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has hit the screens, and fans are taking to social media to share their thoughts on the movie. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the film has received mixed reviews from fans and moviegoers, with some praising its drama, dance, and action sequences, while others have criticised its dragged screenplay and poor dialogues.

As per Hindustan Times, fans on X (formerly Twitter) have lauded the film for its impressive action sequences, with many taking to the platform to share their thoughts on the movie. One fan wrote, "First half is good. Second half, ultimate commercial product. We are winning this one @Suriya_offl." Another fan, reviewer Latha Srinivasan, tweeted, "Retro – Music director Santosh Narayan @Music_Santhosh delivers awesome BGM for this Suriya film. Retro – Suriya’s action flick is now at an interesting interval point. The first half sees some superb shots by director Karthik Subbaraj and Suriya in action mode. And yes, the trending Kannima song too."

However, not all fans are pleased with the film. Some have taken to social media to criticise the film’s dragged screenplay and poor dialogues. A person tweeted, "The trademark KS movie had a dragged screenplay and an okayish storyline narration in the first half. Max disastrous second half with poor dialogue, screenplay, and terrible making from @karthiksubbaraj. Another disappointment for @Suriya_offl & his wait for comeback continues." Another person wrote, "Irritating scenes spillover, mainly villain irritating to the core ..gud action scenes but is it enough to bring a common audience?"

On the other hand, fans have praised the film’s single-shot sequence, with one user tweeting, "The 17-minute ‘single shot’ sequence of the Paari Vel and Rukumini marriage is simply mind-blowing." Another person wrote, "The level of drama, chaos, dance, action, and emotion from both the actors and technicians is nothing short of extraordinary! Huge respect to @karthiksubbaraj and the entire camera crew for their remarkable work!"

The film’s lead actors, Suriya and Pooja Hegde, have also received praise from fans. One fan wrote, "Pooja’s career best performance.. she literally gave it all for this film. Screenplay, interval, mass scenes are fire. As always, BGM is top notch, on a different level. Camera movements and visuals are amazing." Another person tweeted, "Impressive production quality, outstanding performances by Suriya, Pooja. Music that elevates the experience. The screenplay could be tighter. Action-packed moments are a highlight! Worth a watch!"

As reported by Hindustan Times, the film also stars Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, and Prakash Raj, with Shriya Saran making a special cameo. Retro marks the first collaboration between Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj.

Overall, it seems that Suriya’s latest film, Retro, has received a mixed response from fans and moviegoers. While some have praised its action sequences, drama, and performances, others have criticised its screenplay and dialogues. As Hindustan Times notes, the film is worth a watch for fans of Suriya and action-packed movies.
