Summer Arrives Early: Met Office Forecasts Warm Spell for Manchester

Manchester Set for Prolonged Period of Warm Weather

A prolonged period of warm weather is forecast to continue across Greater Manchester, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 24C in the coming days.

According to the Met Office, the warm weather will persist throughout the week, with high pressure building across the UK. The forecaster has predicted that temperatures will remain above average for April and May, with mostly blue skies expected to dominate the region.

The Manchester Evening News has learned that temperatures have already reached 19C today, with the Met Office forecasting highs of 22C on Monday, before a maximum figure of 24C on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

The warm weather is expected to continue into next weekend, although temperatures are forecast to cool slightly, with highs of 21C expected next Saturday. Overnight temperatures will also remain relatively warm, ranging from 9C to 12C throughout the week.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "An early dose of summer is on its way. With high pressure building this coming week, warm air will remain fixed across the UK."

The spokesperson added that while the weather will be warmer than usual for April and May, the current forecast does not meet the threshold for a ‘heatwave’ in Greater Manchester. The Met Office has stated that three consecutive days of temperatures at 25C or above would be needed for the region to experience a heatwave.

The warm weather has been a welcome respite for residents in Greater Manchester, who have enjoyed weeks of largely blue skies and dry weather in March and April. The Manchester Marathon and St George’s Day parade took place today, with mostly blue skies and warm temperatures.

Residents and visitors alike are making the most of the warm weather, with many taking to the streets and parks to enjoy the sunshine. The Met Office has forecast that the warm weather will continue, with prolonged dry spells of sunshine expected across the region.

The warm weather is expected to bring a welcome boost to local businesses, particularly those in the tourism and hospitality industries. The Manchester Evening News will continue to provide updates on the weather forecast and any potential impact on the region.

In related news, residents are being encouraged to make the most of the warm weather by getting out and about in the region.
