Cork Takes Centre Stage in New Foodie Series
=====================================================

A new foodie series showcasing Ireland’s culinary delights is set to hit the screens, with Cork playing a starring role in the first episode. Big Irish Food Tour, presented by celebrity chef Anna Haugh, begins on BBC2 on Monday at 6:30pm and features the Tallaght chef inviting famous faces to join her on a gastronomic journey of the island.

The series, which was previously aired on BBC One in Northern Ireland, sees Anna Haugh travel to various locations across Ireland, exploring the country’s rich culinary heritage. In an interview with Echo Live, Anna Haugh explained that she was passionate about showcasing Ireland’s produce, culture, and people. “I’m passionate about food. I’m passionate about everything that comes from Ireland, from the culture to the produce and the people,” she said.

Cork is the first port of call for Anna Haugh and her celebrity companions, including comedian Katherine Ryan. The duo visited the world-renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School, where Anna Haugh’s own culinary journey began. They also explored one of the oldest food markets in Europe, sampling some of the region’s finest produce. According to Anna Haugh, the series aims to showcase the best of Ireland’s culinary scene, while also highlighting the country’s stunning landscapes.

Anna Haugh, who has previously spoken about her grandmother’s ‘over-boiled and under-seasoned’ dinners, admitted that she had some preconceived notions about Irish cooking. However, her experiences during the filming of Big Irish Food Tour have changed her perspective. “I’ve learned a lot about my culture, and I feel even more proud and strongly about the beautiful landscapes and the wonderful produce that we have,” she said.

The 15-part series features a range of celebrity guests, including Dennis Taylor, Ed Byrne, Shayne Ward, Laura Whitmore, and Carl Frampton. Anna Haugh revealed that she learned new skills during the filming of the series, including how to fish, milk a sheep, and even box with Carl Frampton. Her tour of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland took her to some new places, including Belfast, which she described as feeling like home.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, Anna Haugh and her celebrity companions had a successful filming experience. The series is set to air on BBC2, with viewers able to tune in to see Anna Haugh and her guests explore the best of Ireland’s culinary scene. With its unique blend of food, culture, and celebrity guests, Big Irish Food Tour is set to be a hit with audiences.
