Everton’s Transfer Plans: A Youthful Striker Instead of Richarlison?
As Everton prepares to make the move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, the club is reportedly eager to sign a youthful striker with a bright future. According to GIVEMESPORT senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs, the Toffees are looking for a cut-price alternative to Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison.
The Brazil international left Everton for Spurs in July 2022, when a £60million switch was completed due to the Merseyside giants having fears of breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. A move back to familiar surroundings may not prove to be on the cards under boss David Moyes.
### Richarlison Not Expected to Return to Toffees
Richarlison’s price tag is likely to be a stumbling block for Everton, with Tottenham valuing him in the region of £40million to £45million. This is a significant amount, and Jacobs believes that Everton will be looking for a more cost-effective option.
As GIVEMESPORT reported, Jacobs said on the latest episode of the Market Madness podcast:
“There is no doubt that Richarlison is going to be looking for a move this summer. Saudi Arabia are interested, with Al-Ahli trying in the past. But my understanding is that Everton are reticent on Richarlison because of the injury record and the price that Tottenham are asking for.”
### Price Likely to be Stumbling Block as Moyes Eyes Fresh Firepower
The GIVEMESPORT correspondent also revealed that Everton will be looking to bring in a new forward, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation still uncertain.
“Everton will be looking for a No.9,” Jacobs added. “Their internal task is to determine whether they are going to extend Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract. There is a willingness to engage, but nothing is advanced.”
### Everton to Look for a Younger Profile
Jacobs believes that Everton will look for a younger profile of striker, rather than pursuing a move for Richarlison.
“Keep an eye on Everton because a new forward is likely to come in and it will be one of the top priorities, but I don’t think a Richarlison return is realistic,” he said. “I’m told a younger kind of profile will be looked at by Everton.”
### Moyes’ Transfer Plans
The news will come as a blow to Everton fans who may have been hoping for a return of Richarlison. However, it seems that Moyes is keen to bring in a new striker who can provide a different option up front.
The GIVEMESPORT report also mentioned that Moyes has made a final transfer decision on Charly Alcaraz, telling Everton to strike a permanent deal for the Argentine midfielder.
### Conclusion
Everton’s transfer plans are set to be a key talking point in the coming weeks, with the club looking to bring in new players ahead of the new season. While a return for Richarlison seems unlikely, the Toffees are reportedly keen to sign a youthful striker with a bright future. Only time will tell if they can secure their target and help Moyes’ side improve next season.
