York City Play-Off Semi-Final Tickets Selling at a Rapid Pace

York City Football Club’s play-off semi-final match against the winner of the eliminator between Oldham and Halifax Town is set to be a sell-out, with tickets flying off the shelves. The Minstermen will host the match at the LNER Community Stadium on Tuesday, May 20, at 7:45pm, with the winner advancing to the play-off final at Wembley on June 1.

According to York Press, tickets went on sale to season ticket holders at noon on Thursday, with supporters queuing out of the doors and down the side of the stadium to secure their seats. The newspaper understands that 2,400 tickets have already been purchased, with all remaining tickets set to go on sale at noon on Monday.

As reported by York Press, the demand for tickets has been overwhelming, with the club’s Twitter account posting a message saying: “The demand is out the door… literally!” The club has also reminded season ticket holders that their seats are frozen until Sunday at midnight.

The York Press article states that tickets are priced at £22 for adults, £17 for concessions (over 65), £10 for students, £10 for 12-16s, and £7 for those aged 11 or under. Free carers’ tickets are also available for those accompanying a paid ticket holder.

In terms of seating arrangements, City fans will be seated in the East and South Stands and half of the West Stand. As per league rules, Oldham or Halifax will receive 15 per cent capacity with supporters housed in the North Stand and West Stand overflow (blocks WI, WH, and WG). Block WF will be kept as segregation.

York City finished the regular season in second place on 96 points, thanks to a 2-0 win at Eastleigh on Monday, with first-half goals from Ollie Pearce and Cam John. The team’s manager, Adam Hinshelwood, will be looking to lead his side to the play-off final, where they will face the winner of the semi-final between Forest Green and the winner of the clash between Rochdale and Southend.
