Eurovision 2025 Semi-Finals: All You Need to Know

As the Eurovision Grand Final approaches on Saturday, 17 May, fans across the globe are eagerly anticipating the culmination of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. In the lead-up to the grand finale, two live Semi-Finals will feature all 37 countries competing for a coveted spot in the final. According to the BBC, the top ten countries from each Semi-Final will secure a place in Saturday’s Grand Final.

The United Kingdom, as one of the Big Five countries, has a guaranteed spot in the Grand Final, alongside host country Switzerland, which earned its place following Nemo’s victory in 2024. The Eurovision 2025 Semi-Finals are set to take place on Tuesday, 13 May, and Thursday, 15 May 2025. The first Semi-Final, broadcast on iPlayer, BBC One, Radio 2, and BBC Sounds from 8 pm on Tuesday, 13 May, will feature 15 countries competing for a spot in the Grand Final. 4. Estonia: Tommy Cash – Espresso Macchiato

6. Ukraine: Ziferblat – Bird of Pray
7. Sweden: KAJ – Bara Bada Bastu
8. Portugal: NAPA – Deslocado
9. Norway: Kyle Alessandro – Lighter
10. Belgium: Red Sebastian – Strobe Lights
11. Italy: Lucio Corsi – Volevo Essere Un Duro
12. Azerbaijan: Mamagama – Run With U
13. San Marino: Gabry Ponte – Tutta L’Italia
14. Albania: Shkodra Elektronike – Zjerm
15. Netherlands: Claude – C’est La Vie

Italy, Spain, and Switzerland will automatically qualify for the Grand Final, with audiences in these countries able to vote during this Semi-Final.

The second Semi-Final will take place on Thursday, 15 May, with 16 countries competing for a spot in the Grand Final. The BBC reports that the running order for the second Semi-Final is as follows:

2. Montenegro: Nina Žižić – Dobrodošli
3. Ireland: EMMY – Laika Party
4. Latvia: Tautumeitas – Bur Man Laimi
5. Armenia: PARG – SURVIVOR
6. Austria: JJ – Wasted Love
7. United Kingdom: Remember Monday – What The Hell Just Happened?
8. Greece: Klavdia – Asteromáta
9. Lithuania: Katarsis – Tavo Akys
10. Malta: Miriana Conte – SERVING
11. Georgia: Mariam Shengelia – Freedom
12. France: Louane – maman
13. Denmark: Sissal – Hallucination
14. Czechia: ADONXS – Kiss Kiss Goodbye
15. Luxembourg: Laura Thorn – La Poupée Monte Le Son
16. Israel: Yuval Raphael – New Day Will Rise

France, Germany, and the United Kingdom will automatically qualify for the Grand Final, with audiences in these countries able to vote during this Semi-Final. Viewers will also be treated to the first performance on the Eurovision stage from UK representatives, Remember Monday, singing “What The Hell Just Happened?”

The Semi-Finals will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 8 pm, featuring commentary by Eurovision experts, Rylan and Scott Mills, with Sara Cox and Richie Anderson helming proceedings on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds. Hazel Brugger, Michelle Hunziker, and Sandra Studer have been announced as the hosts for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, with all three presenting the Grand Final, while Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer will also host the Semi-Finals.

As reported by the BBC, Hazel Brugger is an award-winning stand-up comedian and presenter, while Michelle Hunziker is one of Switzerland’s best-known international personalities. Sandra Studer started her career in 1991 as Switzerland’s Eurovision Song Contest participant, securing 5th place with the song Canzone Per Te.
