Cameras Roll on Celebrity Traitors UK: BBC Confirms Star-Studded Lineup
Production on the highly anticipated reality TV show Celebrity Traitors UK is underway in the Scottish Highlands, with the BBC confirming a talented lineup of 19 celebrities set to compete in the first celebrity season of the smash hit.
According to a report from Deadline, the show features a host of big names, including Stephen Fry, Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed, and singer Paloma Faith, who will join forces with other celebrities to sniff out traitors and win a cash prize of up to £100,000 ($132,000) for a charity of their choice. As Deadline previously reported, other notable contestants include Line of Duty star Mark Bonnar, comedian Alan Carr, singer Charlotte Church, Olympian Tom Daley, and sports broadcaster Clare Balding.
The show, produced by Studio Lambert, has been shrouded in secrecy, with the BBC keeping the celebrity lineup under wraps for weeks. However, Deadline revealed the majority of the names two weeks ago. The format of the show involves a trio of traitors, who will attempt to deceive the remaining contestants, known as the faithfuls, and avoid being banished each night. During the day, contestants will compete in challenges to win rewards and clues.
The BBC and Studio Lambert will be thrilled with the caliber of celebrities they have secured for the show. As Deadline noted, the UK version of The Traitors has already proven to be a huge success, with three highly successful civilian seasons that have made celebrities out of breakout contestants like Season 2 winner Harry Clark and arch-villain Paul Gorton.
The celebrity version of The Traitors is set to air on the BBC in the fall, before Season 4 of the civilian version kicks off at the start of next year. According to Deadline, presenter Claudia Winkleman said: “We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie.”
