Leaked Footage Sparks Controversy: Martin Green Speaks Out

Leaked Footage of Eurovision Semi-Final One Dress Rehearsal Sparks Concern

In a statement made during today’s Media Briefing in the Press Centre, Martin Green, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, addressed the issue of leaked footage from last night’s dress rehearsal of Semi-Final One. According to Eurovoix, Green commented on how the footage could have been leaked and the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) efforts to combat future leaks.

The leaked footage, which was shared on social media, has raised concerns about the security of the contest’s broadcast. As reported by Eurovoix, Green explained that the EBU has to broadcast the stream by satellite to the juries in each country, and despite efforts to tighten up security, there is always a risk of hacking. "We have to broadcast the stream by satellite to the juries in each country," Green said. "Technology differs between the broadcasters and unfortunately, if someone really wants to, they could hack the stream and leak the footage. Although we try to tighten up security and we have extremely smart people on our cybersecurity team, there are other extremely smart people who really want this footage and who will find a way to access it."

In response to the leak, Green thanked everyone who reported the links and the Cybersecurity Team for removing the leaked content from social media platforms. He also stated that the EBU’s lawyers have been notified of the leaks. As Eurovoix reports, Green expressed his appreciation for the efforts of those who helped to mitigate the impact of the leak.

The incident highlights the challenges of maintaining security in the digital age, particularly for high-profile events like the Eurovision Song Contest. As Eurovoix notes, the EBU is taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. The organisation has a dedicated cybersecurity team working to protect the contest’s broadcast and prevent unauthorised access.

The Eurovision Song Contest, which is taking place in Basel, has been the subject of much attention in recent weeks. Fans of the contest can stay up-to-date with the latest news and developments by following Eurovoix on social media platforms, including Facebook, X, BlueSky, YouTube, and Instagram.

In a statement, Eurovoix confirmed that the publication will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of the contest, including interviews with the artists and updates from the venue. With the contest set to continue, fans will be eagerly awaiting the next developments from Basel.
