The Sunday Times Rich List has revealed the UK’s richest young people under 40, with the minimum entry requirement now standing at a staggering £100million. According to The Sun, this threshold has almost doubled from £56million last year. The list features a diverse range of individuals who have made their fortunes in various industries such as technology, music, sports, and entrepreneurship.
At the top of the list is Russian-born Dmitry Bukhman, who has a staggering £12.54 billion fortune. Bukhman, 39, made his wealth through his video game company, Playrix, which has developed hits such as Fishdom and Township. The Sun reports that Bukhman’s company now employs over 3,000 people.
The Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, 34, has inherited his title and a vast property empire, but a slump in London property values has knocked £300 million off his wealth. Lady Charlotte Wellesley, 34, daughter of the Duke of Wellington, has seen her fortune rise £400million since last year and is now worth £2.661billion.
The list also features several musicians, including Ed Sheeran, 34, who is the richest musician under 40 with a £370million fortune. The Sun notes that Dua Lipa, 29, is the youngest person on the list, with an estimated wealth of £115million. Harry Styles, 31, has also made the list with a £225million fortune.
Other notable mentions include Rory McIlroy, 36, who has seen his wealth increase by £35million, and Anthony Joshua, 35, whose fortune has risen by £20million. Paige Williams, 32, who grew up on a Manchester council estate, has amassed a £100million fortune through her cosmetics business, P Louise.
The Sun also reports on Georgia Toffolo, 30, who has married brewing baron James Watt and is now worth £425million. Ben Francis, 32, co-founder of Gymshark, has seen his wealth rise to £726million, despite profits being hit lately.
Robert Watts, compiler of The Sunday Times Rich List, notes that the list showcases “many of the country’s brightest stars from the worlds of tech, fashion, music and sport.” He adds that “almost all of these people built their fortunes themselves and their number includes some who left school with few, if any, qualifications.”
