Season’s Fate Not Riding on Millwall Match, Insists Southwark News

Middlesbrough Boss Carrick Confident Ahead of Millwall Clash
===========================================================

As Middlesbrough prepare to face Millwall at the Den on Saturday, boss Michael Carrick has expressed confidence that his side’s season will not be decided by the result of this match. Both teams are pushing for a spot in the play-offs, and the stakes are high.

In a pre-match interview, Carrick acknowledged that Millwall are a formidable opponent, currently sitting just three points behind Middlesbrough in the league standings. The Lions drew level with Boro after their 1-0 win over third-placed Sheffield United on Tuesday, while Middlesbrough suffered a 1-0 loss to Leeds United. According to Southwark News, Carrick said that his side’s recent dip in form has seen them drop out of the top six.

Millwall are currently five points off sixth-placed Coventry City, and a win on Saturday could see them close the gap significantly. However, Carrick remains optimistic that his side can secure a positive result, despite the challenging atmosphere at the Den. As reported by Southwark News, Carrick stated: “They’re a very good team and they’re in a good position, just behind us in the league. They’ve done a lot of good things and have had some good results.”

The Middlesbrough boss also highlighted the importance of focusing on his own team’s performance, rather than worrying about the opposition. “It’s a tough place to go at any time and they’ve got a lot to play for themselves, so we know what the stadium and the atmosphere will probably bring,” he said. “As we are in every game we go into, we’re focussed on getting the best out of ourselves and seeing what the game brings.”

Carrick also dismissed the notion that this match will be a decisive factor in his side’s season. “There’s still plenty to do after this one, so it’s not all on one game,” he said. “Like us, they’ve put themselves in a position and they’re hoping for more. That’s what these games bring. This season is not all decided on Saturday.”

In terms of strategy, Carrick emphasised the need for his side to secure points, while also acknowledging that the league table can change quickly. “For sure, there’s a need for points and we’ll do everything we can do win the game,” he said. “We had a little round where results went in our favour, we won and it flipped in our favour. Results can turn and go the other way quite quickly, and I think that will carry on.”

As the match approaches, Middlesbrough will be looking to bounce back from their recent loss to Leeds United. According to Southwark News, Carrick is confident that his side can secure a positive result against Millwall. With both teams pushing for a spot in the play-offs, this match promises to be an exciting and closely contested encounter.

The outcome of this match could have significant implications for the league standings, and fans will be eagerly anticipating the kick-off on Saturday. One thing is certain, however: Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick is confident that his side can secure a positive result, and that their season will not be defined by this one match. As Southwark News reports, Carrick’s side will be looking to make a statement on Saturday.
