WWE SmackDown Review: Tiffany Stratton Defends Against Nia Jax

According to a recent review by TJR Wrestling, the latest episode of WWE SmackDown featured a highly anticipated match between Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship. The show, which was episode #1343, aired live from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The episode began with a video package highlighting the two SmackDown brand matches from WWE Backlash, where John Cena retained the WWE Title against Randy Orton and Jacob Fatu won a four-way match to retain his US Title. The show then featured a promo from Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Jeff Cobb, where Solo welcomed “JC” to the family and emphasized the importance of winning the Money in the Bank briefcase.

As reported by TJR Wrestling, LA Knight interrupted the promo, slamming Jeff Cobb into the commentary table. This was followed by a series of matches, including a triple threat match for a Women’s Money in the Bank qualifying spot, which Alexa Bliss won. The match featured Bliss, Chelsea Green, and Michin, and was described as “good” with plenty of action and near-falls.

The review also noted that Michin and Bliss had a good showing in the match, while Green was entertaining as the heel. Alexa Bliss’s win was expected, as WWE is likely to feature her more prominently after she sat on the sidelines for a few months.

The show also featured a tag team match between Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) and #DIY (Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano). According to TJR Wrestling, the match was very good, with plenty of action and near-falls. Fraxiom ultimately won the match, which was described as “very good” and a great showcase for the team.

In an interview with R-Truth, he discussed his feelings towards John Cena, who had attacked him the previous week. As quoted in the TJR Wrestling review, Truth stated that he felt like you could depend on John Cena, but now he’s not so sure. Truth also mentioned that he’s planning to face Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The show also featured a match between Aleister Black and Carmelo Hayes, which ended in a disqualification. As reported by TJR Wrestling, the match was decent, but the ending was abrupt. The review noted that WWE is likely to book Black to win matches, so a disqualification ending was expected.

The main event of the show featured Nia Jax challenging Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship. The match was described as “great” by TJR Wrestling, with both women working hard and showing great chemistry. Stratton ultimately retained the title, thanks in part to interference from Naomi and Jade Cargill.

As noted in the review, the match was a great showcase for both women, and Stratton’s ability to adapt and counter Jax’s moves was impressive. The review also praised Jax for her effort, despite being criticized by fans.

The episode also featured several other notable moments, including a video package highlighting the history between Stratton and Jax. Drew McIntyre made his entrance for a promo, where he discussed his ongoing issues with Damian Priest and challenged him to a Steel Cage Match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

In the end, the show was rated 7.25 out of 10 by TJR Wrestling, with the Stratton-Jax match being the standout performance of the night. As noted in the review, the show was solid, but not great, and could have benefited from a more concise format.

The reviewer, John Canton, concluded that the show was “solid” and that the Stratton-Jax match was the best part of the show. He also expressed his enthusiasm for upcoming matches, including the Money in the Bank qualifying matches and the WWE Tag Team Championships match.
