Palace Duo Hospitalized After FA Cup Final

Crystal Palace Duo Hospitalised After FA Cup Win

Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and midfielder Adam Wharton were both taken to hospital after their team’s 1-0 FA Cup victory over Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

According to reports, Guehi was substituted in the second half of the match after taking a blow to the eye. Despite being replaced, the 24-year-old England centre-back was still able to lead his team up the Wembley steps to lift the trophy after the final whistle and celebrate with his team-mates on the pitch. However, Guehi was then taken to hospital in an ambulance amid concerns he had suffered a fractured eye socket. The BBC reported that Guehi also complained of slight loss of sight.

The BBC understands that tests have indicated Guehi has avoided a fracture but sustained severe bruising. It remains to be seen if he can play in Palace’s final two Premier League matches. However, Guehi should be available for England’s fixtures versus Andorra and Senegal on 7 and 10 June.

Guehi spent the night in hospital before being discharged at around midnight. As a result, he was forced to miss the team’s celebration party at Boxpark, just a stone’s throw from Wembley Stadium. The party was attended by his team-mates, but Guehi was unable to join them.

Wharton, Guehi’s England team-mate, also missed the post-match party. The midfielder was sent to hospital for concussion checks after he was hit on the back of the head by a fierce shot from Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne. Wharton posted a photo of himself in a hospital robe on his Instagram account late on Saturday night.

The BBC reports that both players are receiving treatment and are expected to recover from their injuries. The news will come as a relief to Palace fans, who will be eager to see their team finish the season strongly. As the BBC notes, Guehi’s injury is not thought to be serious, and he is expected to be available for England’s upcoming fixtures.

The FA Cup win was a historic moment for Crystal Palace, who secured their first major trophy with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City. The team will look to build on this success in the final two Premier League matches of the season.

The injuries to Guehi and Wharton will be a concern for Palace manager Oliver Glasner, who will need to assess their fitness ahead of the upcoming matches. However, the news that both players are expected to recover will be a boost to the team.

As reported by the BBC, the injuries to Guehi and Wharton were a precautionary measure, and both players are expected to be okay. The team will look to finish the season strongly, and the BBC will continue to provide updates on the players’ fitness in the coming days.
