Usyk Takes Swipe at Dubois in Training Camp Taunt

Oleksandr Usyk’s Training Camp Jibe Sparks Concern Ahead of Daniel Dubois Rematch
The highly anticipated rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois is just around the corner, with the two boxers set to face off at Wembley Stadium on July 19. According to a report by talkSPORT, Usyk, 38, looks to be in high spirits as he prepares to become boxing’s unified heavyweight champion once again.

The Ukrainian boxer recently took to Instagram to share a video of himself dancing at his gym, with a TV screen in the background playing footage of his first fight against Dubois. The 15-second clip has sparked a mixture of reactions from fans, with some joking that Usyk’s carefree demeanor suggests he is confident of an easy win. “How am I meant to tell people he is one of the most dangerous men on the planet after seeing this?” one fan joked. Another added: “Hahahaha! He’s one of the toughest guys on Earth.”

The first encounter between Usyk and Dubois, in August 2023, was marred by controversy after Usyk was dropped by Dubois in the fifth round, but the strike from the latter was ruled a ‘low blow’. Dubois has since expressed his desire to clear up the controversy, stating: “It was in my opinion a proper body shot. I can go over it again. It was a body shot, it landed and I now have the chance to clear up the controversy.”

Usyk eventually got up and knocked Dubois out in the ninth round in Wroclaw, Poland, before becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in 25 years since Lennox Lewis after beating Tyson Fury. He defeated Fury twice in 2024 overall, but was forced to vacate his IBF title ahead of the second encounter. During that time, Londoner Dubois picked up the IBF interim strap by stopping Filip Hrgovic, and won the sanctioning body’s proper belt after he knocked out Anthony Joshua last September.

As talkSPORT reports, Dubois is now set to meet Usyk in a four-belt shootout with the chance to create history. The Englishman’s training footage ahead of the bout has left fans believing he has dramatically improved. However, those same fans may be left with slightly different feelings after seeing Usyk’s most recent update.

The video of Usyk dancing in front of a TV screen showing his first win over Dubois has sparked a mixture of reactions from fans, with some believing it suggests Usyk is confident of an easy win. As talkSPORT notes, Usyk vs Dubois could also see the return of Joe Joyce, whose career was left in tatters after suffering consecutive points defeats to Derek Chisora and Hrgovic in his last two fights.

French newspaper L’Equipe is reporting that Joyce and Tony Yoka are in talks to meet on the undercard. Joyce was on the cusp of a world title shot in 2022 after knocking out Joseph Parker, but has suffered four defeats in his last five fights. A matchup against Yoka would make perfect sense, however, given where both men are in their respective careers.

As the boxing world eagerly awaits the Usyk vs Dubois rematch, fans will be keeping a close eye on both fighters’ training camps. With Usyk looking to defend his WBA, WBC, and WBO heavyweight titles against Dubois in July, the stage is set for an explosive encounter. According to talkSPORT, this is a bout that promises to be an exciting and closely contested matchup.

In related news, Oleksandr Usyk’s impressive record speaks for itself. As talkSPORT highlights, his last five fights have resulted in wins against top-tier opponents, including a unanimous decision victory over Tyson Fury in December 2024. With his sights set on a successful title defense against Dubois, Usyk will look to add to his already impressive resume.

In conclusion, the upcoming rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois promises to be an electrifying encounter. As reported by talkSPORT, both fighters are gearing up for the highly anticipated bout, with Usyk looking to defend his titles and Dubois seeking to claim the unified heavyweight championship.
