Iolo Williams’ Son Dewi Follows in His Footsteps as a Naturalist
Renowned Welsh naturalist Iolo Williams is back on our screens with his hit show River Valleys, but it seems he’s not the only one in his family with a passion for wildlife. His son Dewi is fast becoming a carbon copy of his famous father, following in his footsteps as a naturalist and presenter.
According to a report from Hello Magazine, Dewi has been working alongside his father on various projects, including a show called Iolo a Dewi: y tad a’r mab yn Zambia. In the programme, the father-son duo embarked on a safari adventure, observing various animals in their natural habitat. As Hello Magazine reported, Iolo revealed that his family, including both of his sons, are huge fans of Liverpool F.C. and have been spotted watching their beloved team play.
Dewi has taken to social media to share his experiences working with his father. On one occasion, he expressed his gratitude for the support he received on their show, saying: "Thank you for all the support on ‘Iolo a Dewi: y tad a’r mab yn Zambia’, still on iplayer. Amazing experience filming and meeting some amazing people." This was quoted in an article by Hello Magazine.
The pair’s love of wildlife is evident, and they often enjoy exploring the great outdoors together. In March, Dewi shared a photo of himself and Iolo trekking across Africa, tracking desert-adapted elephants and black rhino on foot. Hello Magazine reported on this story, highlighting the duo’s adventures.
As Hello Magazine noted, Dewi has quite the physique, often showcasing his ripped physique and toned abs on social media. However, it’s not just his physical appearance that is drawing attention – his presenting skills are also being honed, thanks to his work with his father.
Iolo, who has been a household name since the 1990s, has previously spoken about how he never intended to enter the world of television. In an interview with Discover Wildlife, he revealed that it was his family that prompted him to take the leap. As quoted in Hello Magazine, he said: "I never, ever wanted to be a presenter. I worked for the RSPB in Wales, and for four and a half years, it was the best job in the world – monitoring bird populations, advising big landowners, and investigating crimes."
However, with a family to support, Iolo eventually contacted the BBC and S4C to offer his services as a presenter. It’s been 24 years since he started his television career, and he’s now a well-established name in the world of natural history programming. As Hello Magazine reported, Iolo’s decision to become a presenter was driven by his desire to provide for his family.
It’s clear that Dewi is following in his father’s footsteps, and with his passion for wildlife and presenting, he could be a star in his own right. As Hello Magazine noted, only time will tell if Dewi will become as well-known as his father, but one thing is certain – he’s off to a great start.
