Air Fryer Fire Hazard: UK Consumers Warned Over Popular Product

UK Air Fryer Recall: Thousands of Units Affected Due to Overheating Risk

A major recall has been issued for certain models of Tower Air Fryers sold in popular retailers across the UK, including TK Maxx and Homesense. The affected products have been identified as having a manufacturing defect that could cause dangerous overheating, posing a significant fire risk to consumers.

According to a report from GB News, shoppers who have purchased the Tower 2 Litre Air Fryer with product model number T17087 and product codes 900753, 900756, 911937, or 911947 on the price ticket and receipt, are being urged to stop using the product immediately. The air fryer was sold in TK Maxx and Homesense stores between November 2024 and April 2025.

The recall notice, issued by TK Maxx, warns that under certain circumstances, the fault could pose a significant "fire risk" in homes across the UK. Customers who have purchased this air fryer are instructed to return it to any TK Maxx or HomeSense store for a full refund or replacement. For further information, customers can contact TK Maxx customer service at 01923 473561 or via email at [email protected]. Customers in Ireland should call 01 2476126.

As reported by GB News, this latest recall follows a broader safety issue with Tower Air Fryers manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023, with the same overheating and fire risk. These were sold by major retailers including Tesco, Argos, B&M Bargains, Poundland, Robert Dyas, and more. Tower Housewares assured customers that the risk level was deemed "low" by Trading Standards; however, the air fryers were recalled as a "precautionary measure".

The Office for Product Safety and Standards previously advised owners to "stop using them immediately". The full list of recalled Tower Air Fryers includes several models sold at various retailers, including TK Maxx and Homesense. Consumers can check whether they own one of the affected Air Fryer models by accessing the model number on the appliance rating label.

The affected products include:

  • Tower 2 Litre Air Fryer (Product model number: T17087) sold at TK Maxx and Homesense
