Housefull 5 Set to Debut with a Promising Box Office Opening
The highly anticipated comedy film, Housefull 5, is slated to hit the big screen on June 6, starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan. As per a report by Koimoi.com, the film is expected to enjoy a strong opening at the Indian box office.
According to Koimoi.com, Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, is the fifth installment of the popular Housefull franchise. The brand value of the franchise is expected to contribute to the film’s success. As noted by Koimoi.com, “the film naturally has that hype around itself.”
The trailer of Housefull 5 received a positive response, with Akshay Kumar seeming to be in top form in his comic avatar. The addition of veteran actors like Nana Patekar, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff has elevated the film, promising a complete chaos and crazy laugh ride. As Koimoi.com reported, “in the comedy genre, it’s something that the audience was missing for a long time.”
In terms of release, Housefull 5 is expected to have one of the widest releases in Bollywood, with an anticipated screen count of 5,000 in India. According to Koimoi.com, this is set to be Akshay Kumar’s biggest release ever.
Another factor working in favor of the film is that it will face no major competition on its release date. Additionally, with Bakra Eid holiday on Saturday, June 7, footfall in the night shows is likely to see a significant rise due to the holiday factor.
However, Housefull 5 has witnessed an underwhelming advance booking. Despite being part of a popular franchise, the film was expected to enjoy massive pre-sales and easily touch the 10 crore mark. As per Koimoi.com, it is heading to close the day 1 advance booking below 5 crores.
Based on the factors, Koimoi.com predicts that Housefull 5 will score 22-24 crore net at the Indian box office on day 1. While this seems good, it is not up to the mark. For Akshay Kumar, it will be his 4th biggest opener after Mission Mangal (29.16 crores), Sooryavanshi (26.29 crores), and Gold (25.25 crores).
Given the hype and demand for films of established franchises post-COVID, Housefull 5 was expected to earn at least 30-35 crores. However, this seems not to be happening. As Koimoi.com noted, “considering the hype and demand for the films of already established franchises post-COVID, Housefull 5 was expected to earn at least 30-35 crores, but that’s clearly not happening.”
The box office performance of Housefull 5 will be closely watched by industry experts and fans alike. For more box office updates and stories, stay tuned to Koimoi.com.
