Aldershot Town Looms: Can They Stay Ahead of the Pack?

Woking FC Prepares for Crucial Match Against Aldershot Town
===========================================================

Woking FC is set to host Aldershot Town in a highly anticipated match at Laithwaite Community Stadium on Easter Monday, April 21st, 2025. The fixture, which is sold out, promises to be an exciting encounter between two local rivals in the Vanarama National League.

According to Woking FC’s official website, a win for the Cards would effectively secure their safety in the league, possibly even mathematically, depending on other results. The team has been on a good run, unbeaten in six league matches, picking up 12 points, and manager Neal Ardley may make changes to the lineup due to injuries and balance.

The opposition, Aldershot Town, has also been performing well, with seven wins from late February to early April, effectively ensuring their safety in the division for another season. As Woking FC’s website notes, the Shots have 54 points, which is likely enough to keep them in the league. However, they come into the match on the back of two defeats, one at home to Boston United and a 7-2 thumping at the hands of York City.

Aldershot Town manager Tommy Widdrington will likely be cautious with his selection, particularly with the Shots having only two league games after this fixture until they play at Wembley. One player who might be rested is Theo Widdrington, who played a key part in getting Harry Beautyman sent off in the Trophy semi-final. As Woking FC’s website reports, the Shots lined up with both James Henry and Josh Barrett in their starting eleven, with a combined 35 goals in all competitions between them.

In preparation for the match, Woking FC has provided essential information for fans, including allocation and entry details. The Laithwaite Community Stadium will be allocated coloured zones, with supporters required to enter according to the colour allocated to their ticket. As Woking FC’s website advises, fans must arrive early due to additional security screenings, and anyone arriving less than 30 minutes prior to the start of the match risks missing kickoff.

The match promises to be an intense encounter, with both teams eager to secure a positive result. Woking FC will look to set the record straight after a 2-1 loss to Aldershot Town in their last meeting. As Woking FC’s website notes, this will be the fourth consecutive season that this fixture has sold out at the Laithwaite, with both games at the EBB this season drawing crowds of over 5.4k and a sellout crowd of over 7k.

In conclusion, the match between Woking FC and Aldershot Town promises to be an exciting and crucial encounter in the Vanarama National League. With both teams eager to secure a positive result, fans can expect a thrilling match at Laithwaite Community Stadium on Easter Monday.

The teams’ past encounters have been closely contested, with Woking FC hoping to improve on their recent form against Aldershot Town. As Woking FC’s website reports, the last meeting at the Laithwaite was a 3-2 win for the visitors despite two goals from Reece Grego-Cox, whilst the reverse fixture on Boxing Day 2023 was a goalless draw.
