Allen Backs Mascherano Amidst Growing Criticism

Inter Miami’s Noah Allen Defends Head Coach Javier Mascherano from Fan Criticism

Inter Miami’s recent poor run of form has led to a section of the team’s supporters calling for the sacking of head coach Javier Mascherano. However, defender Noah Allen has come to the defence of his manager, labelling the criticism as “unfair”. According to ESPN, Allen told reporters that the blame for the team’s struggles should be shared among the players, rather than solely being directed at the coach.

The team’s poor form has seen them win just one of their last eight games, conceding 23 goals in the process. Despite this, Allen believes that Mascherano has been working hard to help the team and that the players need to take responsibility for their performances. “I think the criticism [of Mascherano] is unfair,” Allen said. “I think everyone’s just gonna blame the coach or look at the coach first. And it’s understandable, of course, especially when you’re not getting results. But I think players have to take accountability first.” This sentiment was echoed by Mascherano himself, who emphasised that he takes full responsibility for the team’s mistakes and poor results.

Mascherano has been under pressure in recent weeks, with some fans calling for his sacking. However, Allen believes that the coach has been working hard to help the team and that the players need to take responsibility for their performances. “He’s been helping us, he’s been really guiding us, trying, pushing hard,” Allen said. “And there’s an opportunity to get out of that form.” Mascherano’s approach to the team’s struggles was highlighted by ESPN, who reported that the coach has been trying to give his players a message of tranquility.

Mascherano’s philosophy is centred around giving his players the freedom to play without fear of making mistakes. “We need to play liberated, not just when we are down by two goals,” he said. “We can get there from minute zero, which is the message I’m trying to give.” The coach emphasised that he takes full responsibility for the team’s mistakes and poor results, and that this approach allows his players to feel “liberated” to play the game without pressure. “I’m responsible here, you guys just play football,” he said. “And don’t be afraid of things. In the end, it’s a game. Football is a game. We have to play it.”

The team will host CF Montreal on Wednesday and the Columbus Crew on Saturday before preparing for the opening game of the Club World Cup on June 14. Inter Miami will compete in the international tournament after qualifying through lifting the 2024 Supporters’ Shield and earning an invitation from FIFA as the last spot given to the host country. Mascherano confirmed that bringing in reinforcements for the tournament will be difficult given the timeline, as he takes into consideration the paperwork required to play in the United States.

In preparation for the Club World Cup, Mascherano revealed that David Ruiz and Fafà Picault, who were called up to their respective national teams for the upcoming Gold Cup, will not report for international duty and instead feature for Miami in the club tournament. According to ESPN, Mascherano said that he has already given the club the list of what he thinks the team needs, but that reinforcements are complicated due to restrictions on coming to play in the United States. As reported by ESPN, the team’s depth will be crucial in the tournament, with Mascherano relying on his current squad to make an impact.

As Mascherano prepares his team for the Club World Cup, he will be looking to turn around the team’s fortunes and lead them to success in the tournament. With the support of his players, including Allen, who believes in the coach’s approach, Mascherano will be hoping to prove his doubters wrong and lead Inter Miami to a strong finish in the competition.
