Alonso Set to Succeed Ancelotti at Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso Set to Replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid Boss

In a move that has been widely anticipated, Xabi Alonso has reportedly agreed to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid boss. According to sources, Alonso will leave his current role at Bayer Leverkusen this summer to take over at the Bernabeu. The news was first reported by The Sun, who revealed that Alonso will quit Leverkusen for his old side on May 25.

Alonso confirmed on Friday that he will be leaving Leverkusen after two successful seasons. The 42-year-old Spaniard led the German giants to their first-ever Bundesliga title last year, and this season will see them finish second behind Bayern Munich. Alonso had long been earmarked by Real chiefs as a future manager, and he will now pen a three-year contract to help the club regain their title from champions-elect Barcelona.

The Italian manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is said to have mutually agreed to part ways with Real later this month. Ancelotti will then finalise a deal with Brazil to lead them at next summer’s World Cup. As The Sun reported, Alonso made 236 appearances during six years as a Los Blancos player, winning a LaLiga title, two Copa del Reys and the Champions League.

Alonso’s managerial statistics compare favourably with Ancelotti’s, and he will be tasked with restoring Real Madrid’s dominance in Spanish and European football. The Sun reported that Alonso had agreed to replace Ancelotti, and the news has sent shockwaves throughout the football world.

Real’s thoughts will immediately turn to the transfer market, with a number of key signings needed to strengthen the squad. A free deal for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has already been agreed, while a new left-back and midfielder are also high on the list of priorities. Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi are favoured, and a new centre-back is also a target. Bournemouth’s Spanish international Dean Huijsen is their top target, alongside Arsenal’s William Saliba.

As Alonso prepares to take over at the Bernabeu, he will have a tough task on his hands. However, with his impressive managerial record and experience as a player, he will be confident of leading Real Madrid to success. According to The Sun, Alonso said at a press conference: “This week the club and I have agreed that these two games will be my last two games as Bayer Leverkusen coach. We have been talking during this week that is always about the moment and now is the right moment to announce it.”

The appointment of Alonso as Real Madrid boss is a significant coup for the club, and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the role. With his experience and managerial expertise, he will undoubtedly be a success. As The Sun reported, Alonso will have a grand send-off to toast the 15 trophies he’s delivered in two spells at Real Madrid.
