Celebrity Chef Embarks on Culinary Journey Across the Island of Ireland

According to a report from Northern Ireland Screen, Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour is set to premiere on BBC Two on Monday, May 5. The 15-part series, commissioned by BBC Daytime and BBC Northern Ireland as part of the Hot House Initiative with support from Northern Ireland Screen, follows the celebrity chef as she travels across the island of Ireland, exploring the unique and new aspects of Irish cuisine and culture.

In this new series, Anna Haugh is joined by a range of celebrity guests, including Katherine Ryan, Laura Whitmore, Shayne Ward, and Diarmuid Gavin, who share their own Irish food memories and join Anna in preparing special meals. The series takes viewers on a culinary journey from Ballycastle in County Antrim to Cork city, where Anna and her guests meet local food producers and sample local ingredients and flavors.

Anna Haugh said, as quoted in the Northern Ireland Screen article, “Irish food is my passion and it’s a passion that took me from Dublin to London to pursue my dreams. Throughout this series, viewers can look forward to lots of delicious, inspiring food ingredients, wonderful recipes, and great chats with my celebrity guests and food producers.”

The first episode features Katherine Ryan joining Anna in Cork, the “foodie capital of Ireland,” where Ryan shares her not-so-fond memories of her grandmother’s cooking. In episode two, snooker legend Dennis Taylor joins Anna in County Tyrone, where they go fishing and prepare a unique local delicacy, the Lough Neagh eel. Other episodes feature Anna meeting actor Eilish O’Carroll from Mrs. Brown’s Boys in Dublin, visiting a Ballycastle farm with garden designer Diarmuid Gavin, and exploring the rugged landscape of County Mayo with presenter Angela Scanlon.

The series also features a range of other well-known faces, including presenter Vanessa Feltz, Father Ted actor Pauline McLynn, wildlife broadcaster Liz Bonnin, rugby legend Bundee Aki, and The Saturdays popstar Una Healy. Anna’s journey concludes with singer and actor Shayne Ward in County Louth, where Shayne connects with his Irish Traveller heritage and learns about traditional Irish crafts.

The series, made by Below The Radar TV, airs weekdays at 6:30 pm on BBC Two, starting on Monday, May 5. The full series is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer. For more information on Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour, viewers can visit the Northern Ireland Screen website.
