Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour Lands on BBC Two

Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour Coming to BBC Two

A new series, Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour, is set to premiere on BBC Two on Monday, May 5th. The 15-part series, commissioned by the BBC, will see Anna Haugh travel around the island of Ireland, exploring the unique and new aspects of Irish cuisine and culture.

According to a press release from the BBC, Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour will feature the presenter visiting various locations across Ireland, from Ballycastle in County Antrim to Cork city. Along the way, she will be joined by celebrity guests, including Katherine Ryan, Dennis Taylor, Ed Byrne, Shayne Ward, Laura Whitmore, and Vanessa Feltz, who will share their own Irish food memories and participate in cooking sessions with Anna.

In the series, Anna and her guests will meet local food producers and sample a range of local ingredients and flavors. Anna said, as quoted by the BBC, “Irish food is my passion and it’s a passion that took me from Dublin to London to pursue my dreams. Throughout this series, viewers can look forward to lots of delicious, inspiring food ingredients, wonderful recipes, and great chats with my celebrity guests and food producers.”

The series will feature a range of unique and interesting food experiences, including a visit to a snooker hall in County Tyrone, where Anna and Dennis Taylor will do some outdoor cooking with one of the area’s most unique delicacies – the Lough Neagh eel. In another episode, Anna will visit a farm in Ballycastle with garden designer Diarmuid Gavin, where they will plant potatoes and Anna will later create a goat hotpot using the local spuds.

Other celebrity guests joining Anna on her tour include presenter Vanessa Feltz, Father Ted actor Pauline McLynn, wildlife broadcaster Liz Bonnin, rugby legend Bundee Aki, and The Saturdays popstar Una Healy. The series will also feature Anna exploring the rugged landscape of County Mayo with presenter Angela Scanlon and traveling to Portrush on the north coast to meet actor Ian McElhinney.

The BBC reports that Anna’s journey comes to an end with singer and actor Shayne Ward in County Louth. Shayne is keen to connect with his Irish Traveller heritage, and Anna introduces him to one of Ireland’s last surviving tinsmiths. They also visit a local farm where Shayne gets his hands dirty picking cabbage.

Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour was commissioned for BBC Daytime and BBC Northern Ireland as part of the Hot House Initiative with support from Northern Ireland Screen. The series, made by Below The Radar TV, starts on Monday, May 5th, and airs weekdays at 6:30 pm on BBC Two. The full series is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

The show promises to be an entertaining and informative culinary journey around Ireland, showcasing the best of Irish cuisine and culture. With its unique blend of cooking, travel, and celebrity guests, Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour is set to be a hit with audiences. The BBC has confirmed that the series will be a must-watch for foodies and anyone interested in Irish culture.
